Leo meets Mr. Jones?

Posted by Rama On September - 13 - 2007

Leo Di Caprio
The Romeo who stole every girl’s heart and then stole a big ass diamond from the heart of Africa is rumored to might be joining in a movie with the British bad ass Vinnie Jones (Gone in 60 Seconds, Eurotrip, Condemned).
So one is an actor who acts tough and the other is tough guy who acts as if he can act. There’s no confirming yet on whether or not these two actors are really going to be doing this project. Besides, it’s about the High King of Ireland, Brian Boru, who led his people fight off Vikings out of their beer-drinkin’ land.
Not many people know these days that Vinnie Jones used to be a professional soccer player back in the day. He was a part of England’s premiership league. Here are some of his soccer pictures, these are not fake by the way!

Al Pacino teaches Cillian Murphy

Cillian Murphy
Here’s an Irish who’s been having a good streak in recent years. Forget the face that we’ve unfortunately seen a shot of his genitalia in the movie ‘28 Days Later’, ever since then he’s taken Rachel McAdams hostage (Red Eye) and scared the crap out of Batman (as Scarecrow in Batman Begins), he even managed to get face to face contact with. Sunshine. And now he gets to go head to head with my choice of the greatest actor alive: Al Pacino!

They’ve agreed to be in a movie that tells about the legendary painter Salvadore Dali and his mentor-protege relationship with a young art dealer. It’s going to be called Dali and I: The Surreal Story. Why do talented actors sometimes have to settle for cheesy movie titles?!
But movies about painters have had good successful records and award recognitions (Pollock, Frida), so bring on the Dali.

Here’s a bigger question, just check out these two pictures below. I know that Al is a great actor who can turn himself into anyone or anything, but I think we can all agree that it takes a real weirdo or a whackjob to play Salvadore Dali. And that horrid mustache!

The Godfather's YOUTH

Francis Ford Coppola
I always wondered where has director Francis Ford Coppola gone to these days, or more like this past decade? He’s helped being a producer of several films but the guy who brought us all Godfather films decided to take a break. Until now! The upcoming movie… YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH unfortunately is not about finding a gun in a restroom or renouncing evil by shooting each and every one of your enemies, it’s not even about a latino playing an Italian (Andy Garcia in Godfather III).

This new Francis Ford project is about a professor in the midst of WWII, running from those who try to kill him. It’s a love story wrapped in mystery and it stars Tim Roth. Who’s Tim Roth, you ask? He’s the dude from Pulp Fiction who, with his girlfriend Honey Bunny, decided to rob a dining place.
Here’s the trailer of YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH and its movie poster. The movie opens everywhere December 14. Better mark your calendar if you don’t want to sleep with the fishes.

The first picture from MUMMY 3

Director Rob Cohen’s blog has released this picture from his project that will continue Stephen Sommer’s franchise, THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR. I got a feeling this ain’t gonna be as exciting as the first two films. You can click on the picture below to read his article and why Rachel Weisz chose not to return as Brendan Fraser’s character’s wife.

KUNG FU Movie

Posted by Rama On September - 12 - 2007

David Carradine
I’m sure by now most of us at least can recognize the face of the man known as Bill from Kill Bill movies. But when I was a kid I used to watch TV series from the 70s when TV shows back then were cool only and only to audiences of that era. That’s why when… I watch Nick at Nite nowadays sometimes I go, “why did we even used to like these shows?!” Anyways, one of my favorite shows was KUNG FU starring none other than David Carradine.

The Shaolin monk walking the wild west, running from the bounty hunters and constantly getting himself into situations where he would have to use martial arts to defend the weak and the oppressed.
I remember he pressed his forearms against this boiling pot and he got those cool lookin’ marks. I thought, “Man! Forget tattoo needles! I’m just gonna do that!
He always had his flute with him even in the 90s version “KUNG FU: The Legend Continues”

Kung Fu

Okay back to the present time. The reason why I took you down to my memory lane is because they’re going to make a movie version of KUNG FU. You can say that again!
Kwai Chang Caine will be on the big screen beating the hell out of bad guys and at the same time still be fast enough to catch a knife that’s thrown at him.

They haven’t decided yet on who’s going to play this famous role that Bruce Lee lost to David Carradine.
But it seems like Max Makowski will be the director for KUNG FU the movie.
Rama’s SCREEN will keep you updated on who’s going to get to play Caine and when the movie will be released and other stuff along the way.

For the time being, here are the clips of the original KUNG FU TV series and its 90s version.

Jon Stewart is back for the Oscars

Posted by Rama On September - 12 - 2007

Jon Stewart
Jon Stewart will reprise his role as the host for the 80th annual Academy Awards, next year on February 24th. This is good news because I think he did very well in 2006 hosting the same ceremony. Steve Martin was funny host too but… I think Academy Awards should make a habit of hiring Jon Stewart like they did with Billy Crystal who hosted several times and too many is considered as the best Oscar host ever.

They did a mistake by letting David Letterman hosted in 1995, for some reason he bombed and that “Ooooprah, Ooomah” joke failure will go down in history as a disgrace.
Chris Rock, who hosted in 2005, did okay but in my opinion, Chris Rock has always been funnier when he’s allowed to use curse words.
To be honest, I thought Ellen DeGeneres’ performance as the host last year was disappointing, she was not as remarkable as she is on her TV show.

The point is, I’m glad Jon got picked to do this gig again because usually watching the Oscars event could be very long and dreadful but Jon Stewart’s hosting it in 2006 made it felt like a cool breeze.

Here were some of the jokes I remembered him saying that year at the Academy Awards:

“Three Six Mafia 1, Martin Scorsese 0″

“Talk about remakes, Walk the Line is like the white version of Ray”

Jon and his gang compiled political campaign clips as if the nominees were going viciously against each other to reach votes like politicians do.

Here is a clip of some of Jon Stewart’s jokes at the Oscars in 2006

TRON The Remake

Posted by Rama On September - 11 - 2007

They’re going to make a new movie of TRON, which is a pretty cool info because I remember the original movie that became one of Disney’s cult classic. The young Jeff Bridges, a computer hacker, got forced into the world of computer and digital gladitorial battles and games where the only chance to survive the virtual world is to rely on the help of TRON. That was the original movie and its storyline.
This new TRON they’re planning to make has no casting confirmed yet, but it will most likely be directed by some dude named Joseph Kosinski and the story will be written by Adam Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. It’s a great time to remake TRON, I hope they use all the technological effects available today to make what’s already a pretty cool movie as it is become even more visually exciting!
So.. in celebration of this ‘computer generated’ headline, here’s a clip of Family Guy TRON.

Jennifer Hudson has SEX

Posted by Rama On September - 11 - 2007

Jennifer Hudson in Sex and the City movie
The woman with an amazing vocal range, while other Hollywood girls try to lose weight to the point of disturbingly skinny, Jennifer Hudson is big and proud and now ready to be in… the movie version of SEX AND THE CITY. Just as Rama’s SCREEN told you once a while back, the director Michael Patrick King will bring this popular TV show that ran for six years on HBO to the big screen. Jennifer Hudson and Chris North will join the gang of 4 talkative New Yorkers.

Jennifer Hudson and her Oscar

Jennifer Hudson will play the character “Louise”, the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw, the sex gossip journalist. The story revolves around the same friends four years after the TV series ended.
I thought Sex and the City was an okay series. I didn’t watch it that often, ehm, because I’m a man and all.
But why would an Oscar winner be involved in this kind of film? And then I remember Halle Berry played Catwoman and Charlize Theron chose to do Aeon Flux. Maybe even the best of actress don’t want to get too serious all the time. SEX AND THE CITY Movie is scheduled for release May 30th, 2008.

Sex and The City Movie

and yes, THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Posted by Rama On September - 10 - 2007

Daniel Day-Lewis
Do you remember the bad guy from the movie ‘Gangs of New York’ who in one scene tap his glass eye with the tip of his knife?! he’s also the same dude that played the main Indian character Hawkeye in the movie ‘The Last of the Mohicans’. But nowadays only some would know that… Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the most admired and versatile actors of our generation. He won Oscar for his ‘Left Foot’ and you can always spot a great actor when he or she chooses the next project carefully because they only wait for the most challenging task yet.

Some of the many faces of Daniel Day-Lewis

THERE WILL BE BLOOD in Daniel Day-Lewis’ upcoming movie, actually that is the official title. And just like his many films in the past, blood is no stranger to Mr. Lewis. What’s it about? It’s about a Texas prospector in the early days of the oil business. It’s about greed, religion, family, and vengeance. They say oil and water don’t mix, try oil and blood!

Oil is black gold, what would you do if it pops out in your backyard?

The director of this movie: Paul Thomas Anderson is the same guy who brought us Punch Drunk Love, Magnolia, and Boogie Nights.
Now I know all of those were depressing movies but you gotta hand it to the man because Magnolia and Boogie Nights garnered several Oscar nominations. Even Adam Sandler was nominated for Golden Globe for his performance in Punch Drunk Love.
So, my point is, THERE WILL BE BLOOD just might have something here.

It also co-stars the up and comer Paul Dano, the kid from Little Miss Sunshine, Taking Lives, and The Girl Next Door
THERE WILL BE BLOOD opens December 26th.
