New TDK Viral

Posted by Rama On February - 29 - 2008

Harvey DentAnother Viral website for THE DARK KNIGHT Marketing strategy has surfaced online.
As it was mentioned before, from now on they’re going to start focusing on using Harvey Dent a.k.a Two Face instead of The Joker.
The new trailer will be attached to the epic movie 10,000 B.C on March 7th, 2008. I take it this time around it’s going to show Gotham’s district attorney as opposed to the first trailer which showed a lot of Heath Ledger as the laughing villain.

The new viral website’s address is: http://ibelieveinharveydent.com/

It’s got a banner with the picture of actor Aaron Eckhart as D.A. Harvey Dent and his campaign to change Gotham.
There’s a couple of brackets underneath it where you can sign up to find out how you can join the fight.
I put in my e-mail address and phone number, I was curious to see what was going to happen and then I received this through e-mail.

Citizens of Gotham! The future of our city rests in your hands!

Alone, we are helpless against the thugs and killers menacing our city.

Together, we have the power to take back Gotham.

In just a few days, you’ll find out how.

Awesome!

PATHOLOGY Teaser

Posted by Rama On February - 29 - 2008

Thanks to John Campea at themovieblog for being generous enough to share with the world the brand new disturbing teaser for the upcoming movie PATHOLOGY. In this clip, the medical students are playing with dead bodies. ya know… because that’s what medical students do in between classes.
It’s pretty funny and pretty F*ed up the same time,… but mostly pretty funny if you have a sick sense of humor.
PATHOLOGY stars Heroes’ Milo Ventimiglia who also played Rocky’s kid in Rocky Balboa.

Sam Raimi can’t DRAG Ellen Page TO HELL

Posted by Rama On February - 29 - 2008

Ellen PageAccording to bloody-disgusting, and when you try to find info on horror movie, you know you can rely on something that has name that starts with bloody and ends with disgusting… Ellen Page (Juno) has quit the film project DRAG ME TO HELL, which is set to be directed by Sam Raimi (Spiderman movies)

The story was written by Sam and his brother Ivan, both who are well known for creating movies in this particular genre before Sam was known as the guy who directed the man with the web.
The plot is supposed to be about a young girl who becomes the host of a supernatural curse.

Apparently Ellen Page didn’t like the script. There’s something about it that she hated…. and so in the words of South Park’s character Cartman, she said to the Raimi brothers, ‘Screw you guys, I’m going home!’

Not certain what parts about the script that didn’t fly with her… if you ask me, may be it lacks sarcasm.

Questions:
Do you think Ellen Page would be perfect in a horror movie?
What do you think her next project should be about?

THE BREAKFAST CLUB the Remake?

The Breakfast Club

Director McG’s friend and protege, Anna Mastro has signed on to direct what appears to be the modern version of the classic hit The Breakfast Club.
Remember that movie? It was only one of the most popular teen movies ever.. a proud product of the 80s, directed by the awesome John Hughes and it starred young Emilio Estevez (Before he became Billy the Kid in Young Guns), Anthony Michael Hall (who also starred in Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science), and the redhead Molly Ringwald whose last gigs include one of the episodes of TV series Medium.

Anna Mastro’s film project is called BUMPED. And according to Hollywoodreporter, here is what makes it similar to the film about different teenagers stuck in a detention.

“A comedy-drama revolving around five twentysomethings — including a corporate go-getter, a musician and a flirt — who normally wouldn’t be friends but who get to know one another when they’re bumped from a flight and wind up stranded at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.”

So that’s why they call it a modern version of The Breakfast Club.
Instead of a classroom, they’re stuck at an airport…
Maybe Tom Hanks should make a cameo and reprise his role from The Terminal, that would be interesting.
Some movies just don’t need to be remade and I think this is one of those.
But what do you think?
Do we need a ‘modern day version’ of The Breakfast Club?

The 2nd IRON MAN Trailer

Iron Man

Wohoo! I hope that still sounds cool enough to describe how awesome this new trailer of IRON MAN is. It premiered this evening as part of the hit series “Lost”.
This time it’s got more Gwyneth Paltrow and it shows a bit of Jeff Bridges working with the bad guys. But most importantly, we are treated with some cool shots of IRON MAN in action and check out the so called Jericho, the special effects will blow you away.
Tony Stark testing his suit, the rough trial and error and the final result. People who’ve seen the test screening said this movie’s awesome! And I’ll take their word for it because so far it looks like it has delivered everything it’s promised.
IRON MAN starts May 22nd, 2008 and here is the trailer #2.

Goodbye, New Line Cinema

Posted by Rama On February - 28 - 2008

New Line CinemaWarner Bros.

This is not a movie info but it is movie-related if that makes any freakin’ sense at all. I don’t usually post info like this but since New Line has been a world renown name for about 40 years, it’s only fair to include in today’s things that you might or might not want to know. New Line is known for hits like NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series, RUSH HOUR series an LOTR series which has sued New Line for not sharing the profit.
Recently, the studio also helped brought us the controversial movie THE GOLDEN COMPASS, which received mixed reviews and failed at the box office.

Today, Warner Bros. has absorbed New Line Cinema, meaning New Line as we know it will no longer exists.
In order not to get lost in the fact and mis-inform you, here is the excerpt from Variety

The colorful 40-year run of New Line is coming to an abrupt end, costing the jobs of most of the company’s 600 staffers.

The company will be folded into Warner Bros. as a small genre arm, but its two toppers, Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, will not be part of the package.

No exact numbers have been divulged in terms of how many of New Line’s staffers will remain, but the surviving entity will be a shell of its former self, refocusing on the horror, comedy and urban genre pics that helped put it on the map decades ago.

Time Warner said New Line would continue to have development, marketing, business affairs and some distribution operations, but its films will go out through the Warner Bros. pipes, a change to be phased in after this weekend’s “Semi-Pro.”

In a message to New Line staffers, Shaye and Lynne warned that New Line will probably be a much smaller operation, saying details would be spelled out at meetings Friday in L.A. and Gotham.

“This was a painful decision, because we love New Line, and the people who work here have been like our second families,” Shaye and Lynne said. “But we will be leaving the company with enormous pride in what all of us at New Line have accomplished together. From its humble beginnings 40 years ago, our studio has created some of the most popular and successful movies of all time.”

Well.. so long New Line Cinema, thank you for the movies
You’ll be missed… maybe.
It’s been real and it’s been great.

THE LOVE GURU Trailer

Posted by Rama On February - 28 - 2008

The Love Guru

Paramount has released the movie trailer for Mike Myers’ new comedy movie THE LOVE GURU about a self-help expert from India who comes to America to find and fortune. First order of business is to settle the dispute between a star hockey player and his estranged wife who’s left him for his rival played by Justin Timberlake, who by the way is funny in his quick scene in this clip.
The movie opens June 20th, 2008
Also starring the talentless wonder Jessica Alba.
For some reason, Mike Myers in this role is just like Austin Powers but with long hair, beard and mustache.
What do you think about it, just watch this trailer and let me know in the comment section below.

Top 10 Coolest Running Scenes in Movies

Raiders of Lost Ark

What exactly is going to happen this weekend?
I am going to run the L.A. Marathon.

Traveling across the United States has its perks but now that I’m back, I’m both ready and nervous for this Sunday event.

If you see me on television, I’ll be the guy they take on a gurney to the ambulance after collapsing on the 15th mile, I’m kidding..
The fact of the matter is I’ve been training all this time and it should pay off, if it doesn’t then there’s something wrong with how I’ve trained, plain and simple.

The intention is not to break any record, it’s not ego trip either. I believe that we need to do one extraordinary thing at least once in our lifetime. Put ourselves to the limit and see how far your mind and body can take you. I don’t mean jumping in blind and acting stupid, what I’m emphasizing is to take calculated risks, the kinds that would have long-term positive impact.

Do something out of your comfort zone from time to time and survive to tell the story will not only make you a well-rounded, interesting person, but it will also boost your confidence, something that would be helpful in every aspect of your daily life, from work, study, all the way to relationship.

But enough with trying to sound like a wannabe motivational speaker. I am first and foremost a movie buff and in celebration of thousands of people who are about to run 26.2 miles, here are 10 movies that I think have some of the coolest running scenes in the history of cinema
