MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS Now on DVD

Posted by Rama On June - 30 - 2008

My Blueberry Nights

One of the most soothing, sultry romantic dramas I’ve ever seen has hit DVD. The thing that makes this movie feel so heartfelt is the comforting music, the soundtrack that just flows in harmony with the storyline that would rekindle your hope in the power of love even when things turn to trouble and nothing else makes sense anymore.
Genius Products and The Weinstein Company proudly presents a magical story about self-discovery and love that will win you over, MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS (Please read my Review on the movie)

My Blueberry Nights

MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS stars Jude Law (Cold Mountain), Natalie Portman (Closer), David Strathairn (Good Night, And Good Luck), Oscar winner Rachel Weisz, and, in her debut performance, Grammy award-winning artist, Norah Jones.

My Blueberry Nights

Synopsis:
After a rough break-up, Elizabeth sets out on a journey across America, leaving behind her life in search of something to mend her broken heart. Waitressing her way through the country, she befriends a troubled cop and his estranged wife and a down-on-her luck gambler with a score to settle. Through these chance encounters, Elizabeth witnesses the true depths of loneliness and emptiness, and begins to understand that her own journey is part of a deeper exploration of herself.

My Blueberry Nights

Directed by Wong Kar Wai (In the Mood for Love, 2046), MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS is a heart-felt perspective on love and the endless soul-searching we all experience. Bonus features for the MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS DVD will include deleted scenes and a Q&A with the director.

CHAINSAW MAID! Bloody Claymation

Posted by Rama On June - 30 - 2008

Celebrity Deathmatch got nothing on this one. This short clip titled CHAINSAW MAID about zombies attacking a family and the maid with a chainsaw who becomes the hero is probably the bloodiest clay-animation I’ve ever seen.
As a zombie movie fan, I gotta say,.. not bad at all.
Bravo to the Japanese amateur animator who goes by the name Takena… Hiya!
A little heads up… watch it with caution.. the images may be considered very graphic and disturbing to some.

Jonathan Levine is POSITIVE about his VENDETTA

Posted by Rama On June - 30 - 2008

Jonathan LevineOne of my favorite movies of the year is THE WACKNESS (By all means, please read my review on the movie)
Writer/director Jonathan Levine crafted what could possibly an Oscar contender for Best Picture.
I’m also vouching for him for the Best Original Screenplay category.. he’s got my vote.

So I like seeing cool things happen to cool people.
And it seems like Jonathan Levine can see clearly now the rain is gone and his future is going to be a bright, bright sun shiny day.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Jonathan Levine will write and direct two new projects.
The first one is a romantic thriller titled POSITIVE which centers on a twenty-something who visits his fiancee’s family only to be seduced by her sister… Nice! ehm.. I mean.. that’s cool

The second one is an espionage thriller based on David Stone’s novel titled ECHELON VENDETTA which centers on CIA operative in charge of keeping dirty laundry from being aired in public, who after the death of a friend begins to investigate the deaths of several agents.

I like Jonathan Levine’s blunt answer when asked about why he went from directing Indie films to Studio films. He said..
“I want to have a lot of the creative freedom that comes from (indie films), but I also don’t want to be broke,”

Christopher Guest

Most casting info are boring.. if you have trouble sleeping, instead of taking all kinds of crappy pills, just read some of the boring casting info out there and you’ll sleep like a baby in no time, guaranteed.

But this one, however, hits home because as a kid, I was a big fan of the movie THIS IS SPINAL TAP
And all these years I’ve been following the career of the man behind the genius idea and all his mockumentary movies (Best in Show, Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman), none other than the talented Christopher Guest.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Ben Stiller’s upcoming Sequel movie NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN has been honored with a special GUEST, literally, director/actor Christopher Guest will star in the movie as IVAN THE TERRIBLE
How cool is that!

He’s not the only recently got hired for the gig, Jon Bernthal will play AL CAPONE, SNL’s Bill Hader will play GEN. GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER and French actor Alain Chabat will play the famous shorty who had small people complex and then conquered many countries in the 18th century, NAPOLEON BONAPARTE

The screenwriters who penned the first movie return to do this one as well and they’re going to star in the movie!
Reno 911’s Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant will play THE WRIGHT BROS.
Maybe their character will be competitive and arguing with each other in the most comical way.

Directed by Shawn Levy starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais and Owen Wilson. The production is going on in Vancouver but they did film portions of the movie in the actual Smithsonian Institute in Washington.
NIGHT OF THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN opens May 22nd, 2009…it’s going to go up against Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

* In celebration of this info, this is the hilarious scene featuring young Christopher Guest as Nigel the Rock Star in the movie THIS IS SPINAL TAP

Will PHILIP NOYCE be the Director of Tom Cruise's SALT?

Posted by Rama On June - 30 - 2008

Tom Cruise

I remember the olden days when it was so easy for Tom Cruise to find work with some of the top notch directors of our time.
Minority Report with Steven Spielberg, Jerry McGuire with Cameron Crowe, The Firm with Sydney Pollack, Far and Away with Ron Howard, Born on the 4th of July with Oliver Stone, Rain Man with Barry Levinson, The Color of Money with Martin Scorsese and Top Gun with Tony Scott.

I mean.. back then it’s as if every A-list director wanted to work with Tom Cruise..
Now.. not so much.

One of Tom Cruise’s new projects is EDWIN A. SALT, about a CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. He must elude capture long enough to clear his name.
The thing is… there have been a few directors considered to helm the project… names like Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) and Peter Berg (The Kingdom) but they all balked.

And so, according to Variety, Australian Philip Noyce (Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games) is next in line, or final negotiations I should say to take on the responsibility. Everybody at Columbia pictures is crossing their fingers, hoping he wouldn’t have second thoughts.

I have to admit, Tom Cruise is still a talented actor.
Yes, he’s a Scientology cuckoo but damn it, if you’ve seen his work in the past, then you’d know that he’s more than just a poster boy.
The problem now is.. Just like when Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was distancing himself from Pres. Bush in order to get re-elected.. I got a feeling many filmmakers are beginning to feel like they’d rather work with someone else rather than to have their names attached to Tom freakin’ Cruise.

* In celebration of this info, let’s take a look again at this clip..the best, funniest impersonation of Tom Cruise ever

BLINDNESS New Poster

Posted by Rama On June - 30 - 2008

Thanks to Cinematical, here is the New Poster for BLINDNESS starring redhead Julianne Moore who obviously turned blond for this role. I don’t know if that makes her look any better. Her acting is fantastic though. I think the image seen here kinda goes with the story. She’s the only who can see and the characters behind her are fading more and more toward the end of the line.

Based on Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago’s novel, and directed by Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener, City of God) The story tells of a city overcome by a strange blindness epidemic where its citizens are stricken with instant “white blindness.” One woman who remains unaffected pretends to be sick in order to take care of her husband, a doctor, who’s now blind

More Spy Photos: SHUTTER ISLAND

Shutter Island

I’m still confused as to which exact title they’re going to go with regarding this movie, Ashecliffe or Shutter Island? I personally like the latter. If you’re a big fan of thriller novel and if you haven’t read author Denis Lehane’s awesome book Shutter Island, then you’re missing out. Better hurry up to the nearest book store and read it before the movie version comes out in theaters next year.

Speaking of which, Just Jared got some more spy photos from the set of SHUTTER ISLAND, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Michelle Williams, also starring Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson,… wait, and it’s directed by the great Martin Scorsese, the man with thick eyebrows who loves casting Leo DiCaprio in his movies.

The story takes place in an a prison for the criminally insane located in a remote island. US Marshall Ted Daniels goes there with his partner in order to investigate the mysterious disappearance of one of the inmates.
It’s got twists and turns that will make your head spin.
SHUTTER ISLAND or ASHECLIFFE hits theaters October 2nd, 2009

The Dark Knight

I thought that previous trailer was the final one but apparently not, We have yet to see the last of THE DARK KNIGHT. Domino’s Pizza launched THE DARK KNIGHT VAULT which has two new trailers. One has been opened and the other will be available soon.

This new trailer contains new footage from the movie… and it mostly has The Joker speaking, trying to mess with Batman’s mind, making him think that he’s nothing but an emo dude, lonely, depressed, and a freak just like The Joker himself.

Will Batman be influenced psychologically? Will The Joker take Batman to the limits?
We’ll see when the two characters collide starting July 18th, 2008.
The world of comic superhero movie will never be the same again..
And here we go!

THE DARK KNIGHT VAULT also has cool features including wallpapers, a game where you can challenge The Joker in order to win some prizes, a $10,000 Giveaway, and plus some more other interviews, and games that are going to available soon.
I’m going to make sure I’ll follow this one… whenever new stuff shows up, I’ll keep you posted.

George Lucas thinks INDIANA JONES 4 was Pointless

Indy Jones

Via slashfilm, this is what George Lucas said to New York Times recently about INDIANA JONES 4

“I mean, why do we have to make another Indiana Jones? There was no point to it, other than, gee, this might be fun.”

“There was no point to it”
My sentiments exactly.
