Tron

This is a segment I’d like to title “Who Gives a F**k!” Seriously.. look, I’m excited about TRON Sequel movie, not so much about the working title TR2N, they really could come up with a better one, but I’ve gone to the point where I just wanna see the movie released already.. but no, we have to go through the experience of trying to find out what the exact title’s going to be.
Via slashfilm, apparently production weekly has it that the sequel will now be called TRZ. What the..? is that like a TMZ sister channel or something? how lame is that!

I’m still waiting for the teaser that was shown at Comic-Con this year to hit the web officially instead of the crappy bootleg version that’s been going around online. Jeff Bridges will return for this movie, reprising his role as the hacker Flynn and this is the short synopsis..

“After being transported into the surreal landscape of a mainframe computer to destroy an intruder (Tron), a programmer finds himself allied with the leader of a rebellion against a corrupt cyber-entity.”

Here’s another one under the category “Who Gives a F**k!” Production Weekly also posted the title and the plot for PLANET OF THE APES Prequel which isn’t going to be called APE: GENESIS anymore, like previously assumed. Now it’s titled CAESAR, after the name of the ape who can talk and then lead all the other apes and start an uprising against mankind. A remake of the 1972 movie Conquest of the Planet of the Apes..

“The origins of how the Apes took over Earth. A hyper-intelligent chimp raised by humans incites a worldwide ape revolution and causes the downfall of mankind.”

Official TERMINATOR SALVATION Teaser Poster

Terminator Salvation

How’s your evening so far? Recently we saw the awesome motion version of this poster, I think all posters should look like that. But now, the official still one-sheet for TERMINATOR SALVATION is here, via impawards.com. Nothing flashy, but still looks lean and mean, like it should be. (click on the image to enlarge). Don’t you think it looks as though Google Earth was the one that manufactured the poster.
I can’t wait for the next theatrical Trailer to hit the web.

TERMINATOR SALVATION opens May 22nd, 2009

ROME The Movie to Feature Jesus?

Rome

Some series just don’t get the respect they deserve. I was a huge fan of Arrested Development and then it got canceled because of low ratings, either that or Fox is being a usual a-hole. But now that the movie version is going to be developed, I’m glad to hear that another favorite of mine might get a theatrical version too.. nothing’s confirmed or official yet but a man can hope.

According to Hollywood Repoter, Producer Bruno Heller who we should thank for the awesome short-lived HBO historical-based drama ROME is thinking about bringing the tale to the big screen. There’s been talk about it, but talk is all there is right now..

The series only lasted for 2 seasons, the set was once admired for being very close to how Rome would’ve looked like back in those days. Everything about the production was done to look as authentic as possible. The gritty story, the detailed accounts of the culture, the murder, the deceit, the politics, the orgy, the war, the mobster, it was like a mix of Deadwood and The Sopranos but back in ancient times.
Even History Channel’s re-enactments couldn’t make a depiction that specific.

The story centered around two fictional best friends, Lucius and Titus Pullo but at the same time, you’d see the history of Rome unveiled before our eyes, you remember everything you’ve learned or heard of in your high school history class about Brutus, Julius Caesar, Marc Anthony, Cleopatra, their victory, their conflict, and their tragic fate.
Lucius was killed off in the second season but Pullo lived on.

The guy who played Titus Pullo, Ray Stevenson is now Frank Castle in the upcoming bloody action movie, PUNISHER: WAR ZONE. At the comic-con this year, the Lionsgate panel for the movie was filled with ROME fans, so all of us shouted “Titus Pullo!” and Ray Stevenson would smile and respond by giving the Rome trademark greeting signal. That was awesome!
The guy who plays Lucius, Kevin McKidd, hasn’t been getting the same luck, He was in the very short-lived NBC series Journeyman, he was in the lame medieval-themed movie The Legion, he was a supporting actor in Made of Honor, and now he has only recurring roles in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

Okay, back to the movie idea. No word yet on who might be cast in the movie version but Bruno Heller would not even discuss plot ideas for the movie. When he was doing the series, he had it in his mind that it might go for at least five seasons. Third and fourth season would be set in Egypt. Fifth was going to be the rise of the messiah in Palestine.
So there’s a big possibility,.. a big maybe.. that ROME Movie might have to do with the hedonistic Roman leaders dealing with the rise of a certain problematic rabbi… someone who’s got beard and can feed five thousand people and walk on water too.

Chef Keanu Reeves

Posted by Rama On November - 30 - 2008

Keanu ReevesKeanu Reeves.. it’s a love/hate, hit-and-miss thing, really! He’s perfect as Neo in The Matrix Movies but then he went and played a doctor in Something’s Gotta Give and that was a very lame performance.
He was made to do sci-fi or action-packed movies in the likes of Street Kings and the upcoming The Day The Earth Stood Still, things that don’t require acting skills which he doesn’t much of.. but then he also wasn’t all that great in suspense/thriller flicks like The Watcher and The Gift.

Maybe because he’ll never get away from his Ted persona from Bill & Ted movies no matter how old he gets.
So once again, you never know when you deal with someone like Keanu Reeves. If there’s an acting-o-meter out there, then I would put him slightly above Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen.
His latest project which is said to be directed by David Fincher hasn’t released much of what it’s about quite yet. So far.. it’s Something about a chef.
But The awesome Peter Sciretta of the great slashfilm recently got dibs on what the plot might be about..

“A Michelin-level chef tries to make a comeback from major personal issues. He gathers his old friends together as his ‘dream team’ and ends up falling in love with the newest member of the group.”

The script is written by Steven Knight (Amazing Grace, Eastern Promises), David Fincher is usually known for directing thrillers like Se7en, Zodiac, Fight Club but also directed the upcoming drama The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This untitled Chef project, however, sounds more like a dramedy.
But the question remains, can you see Keanu Reeves as a chef?
can “I know Kung Fu” suddenly become “I know How to Cook”??

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL Featurette and Sneak Clip

Posted by Rama On November - 30 - 2008

It’s a bit depressing actually to know that movies that are released at the time of my birthday, in the past couple of years, have been apocalyptic-themed movie where either mankind became monsters and Will Smith walked the streets alone (I Am Legend) or mankind about to be annihilated by Keanu Reeves‘ giant Gort (The Day the Earth Stood Still)
The video above is a featurette clip, via Yahoo, that was previously released for Taiwanese viewers, hence the subtitles. And the video below is the sneak clip, via themoviebox.net, of the upcoming sci-fi movie THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.

2 GRAN TORINO TV Spots

Posted by Rama On November - 30 - 2008

Gran Torino

Way back when before this movie was made, there were rumors that this might be another installment of DIRTY HARRY Movie, but it wasn’t. This Clint Eastwood new movie may not be about his iconic Harry Callahan character but it sure looks like he’s going to go all Dirty Harry on some Hmong gangbangers. It may be Holiday season but it’s time to be all grumpy and mean like the old badass who can act just as damn as great as he can direct.
Clint Eastwood has handled stories about black musician (Bird), female boxer (Million Dollar Baby), Native American was hero (Flags of Our Fathers), Japanese soldiers (Letters of Iwo Jima) and now the Hmong people get to be portrayed in his latest project, which might be an Oscar hopeful for Best Picture nomination, cross your fingers.

Here are 2 New TV Spots for GRAN TORINO

Clint Eastwood stars in the drama “Gran Torino,” marking his first film role since his Oscar-winning “Million Dollar Baby.” This will be his last acting gig. Eastwood also directs the film in which he plays Walt Kowalski, an iron-willed veteran living in a changing world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices.

GRAN TORINO opens December 12th, 2008

PLANET OF THE APES Prequel?

Posted by Rama On November - 29 - 2008

planet of the apes

You wanna know how slow this thanksgiving weekend has been as far as movie info goes?! It’s this slow.. when apes seem to be taking over the world again.. Previously CHUD had the first word that there’s a possibility there might be another PLANET OF THE APES Movie underway, which will be a reboot of the old installment Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, reboot was supposed to simply be titled GENESIS: APES, about a how those damn dirty apes start an uprising and eventually conquers mankind.

To everybody’s joy, the project is essentially dead.
but Fox just has to come and ruin the day all over again, via CHUD

Fox’s Tom Rothman talks about the possible prequel in between showings of the Planet of the Apes movies on Fox Movie Channel this weekend.

“We are very close at Fox on a new Apes script- this one a kind of prequel story before the first story, with a return to the social thematics that mark the first one, but with an entirely contemporary setting – Earth 2009,”

What the hell is that even supposed to mean? The prequel story before the first story before the..
OK, who’s ready to forget all this crapola and be excited for Christmas instead? What’s your plan?

Hugh Jackman Wants WOLVERINE Japan Story for The Sequel

Posted by Rama On November - 29 - 2008

wolverine

The movie hasn’t even come out yet but already Hugh Jackman is wanting to have a sequel. X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE is expected to be one of the biggest movies of next year’s summer and he talked to MTV recently stating that he’d like for his character to continue more than just some sort of a cameo in the talked-about plans for DEADPOOL Spin-off movie. He actually has an idea for what the story for the sequel should be and why this Origin movie must be done first before that could happen…

“The most intriguing thing to me was the Japan story. I love the Japan story,”
“I wanted to do the Japan story from around ‘X-Men 2.’ Can you just picture Wolverine in Japan with the triads and the samurai? It’s just genius.”

“How can you do that before you explain his origins?” said Jackman. “If we tried to mix the origin and Japan together, it wouldn’t do justice to either. So you can tell by the answer where I’d like [the sequel] to go.”

Sounds like he wants to do this gig til he can’t do it no more. Just like Bruce Willis has his Die Hard franchise, Hugh Jackman will be associated with WOLVERINE for as long as today’s generation can remember. I’ve never read the graphic novel WOLVERINE, the version written Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, although some have said it’s a must-read, but if it were to be the basis of the next movie, then why the hell not. Bring it on, Jackman!

It must take a lifetime, or at least it will feel like it, to make THE HOBBIT Movie, geez.. Filmmaking is a tiring, exhausting job.. and I just can’t imagine how Peter Jackson went through the back-to-back stuff he did on Lord of the Rings trilogy and now with director Guillermo Del Toro, they’re going to embark on a long journey to bring another Tolkien’s book to life on the big screen.

bilbohobbit.com has posted a transcript of the recent live online chat and he said that some professionals from his previous gig, Hellboy II will be helping out with this massive, ambitious project and just like Hellboy II, the movie will also have cool creatures..

“many many more and we will be pushing the goblin kindgom. we will be pushing smaug, the spiders of mirkwood. we will be pushing them to the edge of technology where we will fuse animatronics and cgi into a seamless new art form in creating creatures, i think.”

“it will begin in 2010 and we will shoot for about 370 days or so…”

370 days of filming,.. damn! I’d go insane within the first two months.
The movie will come in two parts.. although Guillermo Del Toro seemed to insist that he’s treating it like he’s directing one colossal, interconnected movie, fair enough… THE HOBBIT opens December 2011 and the second part opens December 2012.

First Look: GAMBIT

Posted by Rama On November - 28 - 2008

Gambit

Yup, here’s another one from Empire and its latest issue that’s been covering the upcoming summer mutant spin-off, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, this time we get to take a look at my favorite X-Men character, Gambit, played by actor Taylor Kitsch from TV’s Friday Night Lights. What do you think?

Gambit should have his own movie, maybe it’s just a matter of time until that finally happens. Right now, the spotlight’s on Hugh Jackman’s iconic WOLVERINE (Check out the recent images)
And don’t forget! The awesome trailer for this movie, just as previously announced, will be attached to the upcoming pre-apocalyptic sci-fi movie THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL starting December 12th, 2008

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE opens May 1st, 2009
