With all these Superbowl Spots showing up online the day before, makes us wonder they even need to appear tomorrow during the game at all.
Here’s the Superbowl Spot for Paramount Picture’s big prequel event of the year, STAR TREK. It’s got some new footage including Chris Pine as young Cpt Kirk in a bar brawl. Nothing says a good leader than an imperfect past.
And it’s also got the stunning young Uhura (Zoe Saldana), gotta have a sex scene, right?..and the part where they’re flying down in full speed in mid-air makes me wanna go skydiving again.. that looks fun!

2 UP Super Bowl Spots

Posted by Rama On January - 31 - 2009

Pixar’s upcoming UP has its Superbowl spot.. not just one but two. Could this be the next masterpiece from the folks that brought us great family films in the last decade?
The first Super Bowl TV Spot for UP which you can watch via the video player above, is basically a cut down version of the Trailer except for one new scene at the end.
The second Super Bowl TV Spot for UP in the video below is a clip entitled “Animal Calling” with Carl and Russel roaming the jungle in a wild adventure and Russel showing off his animal calling skills.

Plot:
From Disney•Pixar comes “Up,” a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award®-nominated director Pete Docter (”Monsters, Inc.”), Disney•Pixar’s “Up” invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth. “Up” will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D™ in select theaters.

Esteban's HE-MAN Movie Casting Choices

Posted by Rama On January - 31 - 2009

He-Man

This past week, it was confirmed that John Stevenson will be directing the live action movie HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Rama’s SCREEN Reader Esteban who lives outside the United States sent me an e-mail stating who he thinks should play which character in the movie. I figured it’d be interesting to see some opinions about this project and since he’s a big fans so without further adue,… here’s Esteban..

Rama–

It’s hard to do it in a language that’s not mine. I don’t know the right words and I’m short of synonyms in english, so there are many word that always come back. Sorry for that. These are the names that I have in my head for some of the roles. Of course this choice is only an option when they really want to stay true to the world of ‘Masters of the Universe’. If they are going for young people only who are popular right now, without thinking about all the fans out there, then these guys and girls will never make it. (except for Jason Lewis) I’m not sure if I’m going to be looking forward to the movie if they do that.

Anyway …

heman-princeadam

He-Man : Jason Lewis There’s no doubt about it, once Prince Adam does his ‘I have the power’ thing, he must be the strong good guy that everyone likes. It’s kinda funny but this ‘Sex and the City’ dude actually looks like the character in the cartoon. And most important, his hair is even blond. Nobody wants them to do an ‘Alexander’ (Colin Farrell), right? ;) A year ago Lewis was rumored for the role.

stratos

Stratos : Jeff Goldblum Looking both smart and a bit ‘cool’, that’s how Stratos should be. In a way the smooth Goldblum -for me- is the perfect answer to that. Look at those faces, it’s not hard to imagine him as the birdman with a beard.

Beast Man

BeastMan : Ron Perlman I guess the reason is not hard to find, huh. With all respect for the actor, but he realy has the looks of a … beasty man. I wouldn’t be the first thime he gets a role just for that, would it. ‘The Beauty and the Beast’, a TV-series where he was the beast. ‘The Island of Dr. Monreau’, he was a beast. ‘Alien Resurrection’, he moved like a monkey and made the same noises. And the list goes on. However, in the first place he’s good in acting and he’s even better with voices, the man could give this one his very own touch.

merman

MerMan : Michael Emmerson I always felt like this was a mean sneaky little bastard with creepy eyes. There’s only one guy that gave me that feeling as an adult, Ben Linus. And seriously, look at those eyes. No doubt.

evillynn

Evil Lynn : Rachel Weisz or Carrie Ann Moss I’m not sure about who it should be. Let’s be clear, Skeletors girl is a bitch that shows you she’s the master just by using her eyes and that little thing she does with the eyebrows. But she’s also a beautiful woman that will use that ‘talent’ in a very clever way. Weisz has more of the smart and beauty (imo), Moss has more of the bitchy looks. Maybe it should be Rachel Moss?

manatarms

Man-at-Arms : Tom Selleck In a strange way it’s almost like this character was based on the actor. I know Selleck is old, but Man-at-Arms ís a grumpy funny older member of the team. Anyway, look at the pics … I rest my case.

kingrandor

King Randor : Liam Neeson He’s the king. He’s wise. He’s good at fighting. He knows what he does. Everyone can learn from this guy. That reminds me of two characters played by Liam Neeson : Qui-Gon Jinn in ‘The Phantom Menace’ and Henri Ducard (aka you know who) in ‘Batman Begins’. And when you think about it, it’s a sort of “father”-role he did many times.

FAST & FURIOUS Super Bowl Spot

Posted by Rama On January - 31 - 2009

fast

Of all the Superbowl spots this year, this one’s probably the least appealing. I still have yet to find a damn good reason to watch FAST & FURIOUS other than the cutie Jordana Brewster. They even had to borrow the footage from the last trailer as the ending part for this teaser, which once again seems way too over-the-top if you ask me.

SYNOPSIS
When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.

YEAR ONE Extended Clip

Year One

I’m so mad at myself for missing out on the advanced screening of YEAR ONE, I could’ve seen this movie last year, man! I should beat myself up for being a lousy Jack Black fan. O well, what the f* can you do now, right? Here’s the Superbowl Spot for YEAR ONE that has hit the web and in this scene Michael Cera and Jack Black are trying to hunt down what looks to be a very odd looking buffalo, and they encounter the Genesis brothers Abe (Paul Rudd) and Cain (David Cross) and witness the first murder right before their very eyes.

When a couple of lazy hunter-gatherers (Jack Black and Michael Cera) are banished from their primitive village, they set off on an epic journey through the ancient world in Columbia Pictures’ comedy “Year One.” Harold Ramis directs. The screenplay is by Harold Ramis & Gene Stupnitsky & Lee Eisenberg (”The Office”) from a story by Harold Ramis. The film is produced by Judd Apatow, Harold Ramis, and Clayton Townsend.

LAND OF THE LOST Super Bowl Spot

land of the lost

The Superbowl Spot for Universal Pictures’ LAND OF THE LOST has hit the web and I’m not sure if Will Ferrell running around, screaming like a girl would make me wanna see this movie. They even have to use Ferrell Vs. Matt Lauer to get some laugh. We’ll see.. maybe this comedy won’t be so bad if I just inhale something before I go inside the theater to see it. The teaser ends with a scene they showed at the Comic-Con last year where T-Rex’s face is right behind Ferrell’s back

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world – a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.

Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T-Rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally – a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone) to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost.

Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, “Land of the Lost” is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft.

G.I. JOE

Yeah, that sneak peek stuff didn’t satisfy you, did it? So it’s time to check out this full blown 30 second Super Bowl spot for G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA which hit the web via comingsoon.net, where you can see the hi-res version. Seems promising with all the visual and action and a nice shot of Sienna Miller as The Baroness in the beginning. This is so not the G.I. JOE we remember years ago when we were kids.

G.I. JOE Superbowl Spot Sneak Peek

G.I. JOE

ET had a sneak peek at G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA Superbowl spot which will be aired during the big game this Sunday. It’s only about 10 seconds. For a brief moment here, it looks like the movie might not be too shabby after all.. for a teaser. It ends with a tagline “when all else fails, we don’t” which might show up on the final artwork,… since all we’ve been getting are character posters.

Sony Gets ANGELOLOGY

Posted by Rama On January - 30 - 2009

I’m a big fan of Dan Brown Novels and I thought the movie The Da Vinci Code didn’t do justice, and its wannabee copycat, National Treasure had its cheesy, over-the-top moments. So what if the two titles were combined? That’s exactly what has been said about the new novel ANGELOLOGY by author Danielle Trussoni best known for her memoir FALLING THROUGH THE EARTH which was considered One of Ten Best Books of 2006 by The New York Times.

The funny thing is, although ANGELOLOGY is officially her debut novel, it’s gone through some crazy bidding war. The publication finally went to Viking and already Warner Bros., Sony and Universal were battling against each other to buy the film rights.. which finally went to Sony, according to Variety.

What a gamble.. we don’t know even know yet if the book’s going to be a good read or not.. what makes things even more shady is the plot which I think is a bit of rip-off of other spiritual thrillers that have hit the big screen in the past 3 decades or so..

“The story revolves around a 23-year old nun, who teams with an angelologist named Verlaine as they race to thwart a group that tries to corral the destructive powers of a race of angel/human hybrids called Nephilim. Their goal is to destroy mankind. Verlaine starts out working for the bad guys–who then tried to kill him–before he teamed with Sister Evangeline in a search for ancient artifacts that are the only things that can stop the Nephilim.”

Ok, it sounds more like a crime thriller, but instead of a cop and a bad guy and a snitch who turned on his gangster friends.. it’s a nun and a person who studies angels.. typical Hollywood. Can I get a shot of “originality” please, for the love of.. !
The only way this movie would be worth watching is if Sister Evangeline is played by Megan Fox. That would ease the lameness a bit.

Via Trekmovie.com, Paramount is working together with a promotional partner, Esurance, (odd choice). Parnership doesn’t discriminate I guess.. and they’ve launched a viral website at www.esurance.com/startrek which has a new video with the first behind the scenes footage for the upcoming prequel event of the year, STAR TREK, the video intertwines parts of the theatrical trailer with interview clips of the entire ’supreme court’ of producers on the films and the actors, and it also includes the first glimpses of behind the scenes shots on the film, including a set we have not see before

There is a ‘Biggest Trekkie Contest’ where you can win a trip for two to the Hollywood premiere of STAR TREK by uploading video explaining why you are the biggest Trekkie.
You must enter by March 5th.
There’s even a link to an ‘Out of this World Content,’ with desktops, the trailer and some AIM icons, all using previously released imagery.
So click on the image below and start Trekking!
