chun-li
O, man.. if there’s an Razzie Award category for the worst game-based movie of the year, it should go to STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI, I mean I kid you not.. I don’t even know what idiot would think this could make it well on the big screen. This should’ve been a… Read the rest of this entry »

MONSTERS INC. 2 Might Happen?

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

monsters inc.

You can tell how reliable or unreliable a talk can be judging from how many channels it’s gone through.. you heard it from someone who heard it someone who heard it from another someone and the info can get distorted by the end of the last line. So how do you know for sure if a rumor about a certain Pixar sequel movie turns out to be true or not? You don’t..

According to The Pixar Blog that heard it over the grapevine at Blue Sky Disney that Peter Docter, who directed the upcoming Pixar animated film UP, is going to direct MONSTERS INC.2
In the month before that, Pixar Blog heard that that MONSTERS INC. 2 was in production and expected to hit theaters in 2013
So take all of this with a grain of salt for now but it’s fun to anticipate the possibility of the return of Mike and Sulley.. and who can forget that cute little Boo.
If there’s one Pixar movie that should get sequelized.. this should be it.. but it does have certain challenges… what do you think the story should be about? The first movie seemed to conclude itself nicely. Besides,.. the monsters aren’t out to scare kids anymore, so how can we pick up from that and hope to be entertained? And what kind of new characters they should introduce in this sequel?

* In celebration of this info, here’s the ending to Monsters Inc.

New HARRY POTTER 6 Featurette

Here’s a new featurette of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, via TODAY Australia and it’s going to open in theaters in the land down under one day earlier than here in the U.S. No biggie…
It includes scenes from the trailer but you also get behind-the-scenes look and some talking heads discussing the storyline. And romance is in the air.. I always press pause on the sight of Hermione especially when she gives that jealous stare at Ron Weasley.

SYNOPSIS:
Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Weird Choices For GREEN LANTERN

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

Yelchin lantern

So many people are considered to play GREEN LANTERN in the movie project to be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale). WB recently announced that the movie will open on December 17th, 2010.
But so far, those many people considered to play the character Hal Jordan haven’t been so.. worthy. To be fair, I’m not a big fan of GREEN LANTERN but my roommate is and he’s freakin’ crazy about any type of development on the movie.

Latinoreview recap the names that were in line, at one point.. the producers wanted Ryan Gosling but Gosling turned them down. That didn’t stop the producers however, word has it they’re going to persuade him again.. I’m thinking with lots of money on the table.

Sam Worthington crossed their mind but he can’t cause he’s too busy with another movie project called CLASH OF THE TITANS

What surprised me is that Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild, Speed Racer, Milk) was offered the role but he said no.. which is kind of a good thing. He’s a talented young actor but he doesn’t have that superhero profile or charm.

And now the latest rumor to hit the web is Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett). Talented young actor who we can see next in STAR TREK as young Chekov and TERMINATOR SALVATION as young Kyle Reese.. seems like he’s got an itch for getting involved with futuristic prequel.
But alas, he’s way too skinny and nerdy.. unless that’s the type of Hal Jordan that GREEN LANTERN producers are going for.

WATCHMEN Clips and More Coming To NBC

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

I know I’ve said before that you probably won’t get to see clips from WATCHMEN here but what the hell, huh?! Someone put every clip in one montage video above and and there’s an extra one below, so I figured since the movie comes out next weekend, maybe I should just lighten up and enjoy these spoilers too.
Right after that is an info via comingsoon.net about more WATCHMEN clip montage that will soon hit NBC, and it will hit the web eventually, so stay tuned.

In the days leading up to the much-anticipated March 6th release of “Watchmen,” brand new clip montages from the film will air exclusively during the broadcast of six different shows across three NBC Universal networks. Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures.

The promotion begins on March 1st and encompasses several of the most popular series on three NBC Universal networks: NBC (”Heroes” and “30 Rock”), SCI FI (”Battlestar Galactica” and “Ghost Hunters International”) and USA Network (”Burn Notice” and the acquired theatrical “National Treasure”). DAMN Carrey And Gyllenhaal

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

carrey-gyllenhaal

Damn! Hugh Jackman may not be a hilarious host but he was right when he said that musical movies are back.. all that dancing and singing on the Oscar stage was contagious. This year we’re going to get Fame, Nine and now a remake of DAMN YANKEES!

According to Variety, New Line has hired Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal to be involved in the new contemporary version of the adaptation of the classic musical DAMN YANKEES with Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel to write the script.

The original was a broadway performance back in 1955 and then it got turned into a movie back in 1958, film adaptation of the George Abbott Broadway musical about a Washington Senators fan named Joe Boyd who makes a pact with the Devil to help his baseball team win the league pennant.

In the new version, Jim Carrey will play the devil and Jake Gyllenhaal will play Boyd.. this will mark the first musical movie project for each of them. I’ve heard Carrey sang before but can Jake Gyllenhaal hit the notes?
The movie will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron who were also two of the forces behind the movie Hairspray and its upcoming sequel project.
Damn, Hugh Jackman was right.. whodathunkit?!

2nd FRIDAY THE 13th Movie Is Happening

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

friday-the-13th

Damn Jason and his machete will return. I saw the recent Friday the 13th Reboot and it was more like softcore porn than a horror flick. I most definitely didn’t like the ending, the spoiler I’ll give you is that the ending makes no sense at all and it was dumb in every level. I don’t the get the fascination with bringing Jason back again and again, just like I don’t get why Rob Zombie is obsessed with his Michael Myers.

According to Risky Biz Blog, scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift who wrote the recent reboot have started working on the second movie. Now they don’t call it sequel because it’s more of a follow up. Jason is back and the new installment is expected to use elements of the original franchise more as a jumping-off point than as a template. Whatever the hell that means.
They could’ve simply said, ‘o we’re going to use different story, different setting, and different people for Jason to butcher’.. next thing you know we’re going to have Jason in space all over again. God help us all.

Marcus Nispel might direct again but Platinum Dunes and New Line aren’t keeping their hopes up because Nispel is being offered many other projects across other genres. ha! that part makes me laugh. What other genres could he possibly do besides this?!
This 2nd FRIDAY THE 13th movie can be expected to arrive in 2010

APHRODITE Movie. Yes!

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

Finally! A movie project that will challenge our intelligence, with themes so profound and a character driven plot powerful enough, it might just get nominated, this is the kind that you’d see for the great acting and the stunning cinematography and excellent editing work plus inspiring original score…. yeah, right!
On behalf of all testosterone audiences out there, let me just say that we are officially anticipating the movie version based on the graphic novel APHRODITE IX

According to Hollywood Reporter, Threshold Entertainment, Platinum Studios and Top Cow Productions will turn the Top Cow comic into a 3D movie and they’re looking for a female lead… so who do you think is hot enough to play the greenhead sex symbol you see in these covers?

For those of you who are not familiar with the comic,.. in a nutshell.. Aphrodite IX is kinda like a female robotic Jason Bourne.. the whole amnesia and can’t remember your identity and as you figure out your past, you encounter conspiracy..
Basically, here’s how Wikipedia puts it…”she suffers from amnesia shortly after being sent on undercover missions. This leads to ongoing confusion about what she does and for whom but she becomes aware that she is intended as an assassin, she finds the idea increasingly distasteful and experiences dreams and desires like a human. When she seeks out clues to her past and true identity, she stumbles onto a conspiracy involving a secret society of cyborgs attempting to undermine the legitimate government.”
So once again, it’s like Jason Bourne but female and ten times hotter… and she’s an android.. a knockout android.

Drew Barrymore To Direct ECLIPSE?

Posted by Rama On February - 27 - 2009

A rumor has a risen in the Twilight saga and I’m not sure this is a good thing for the fangirls everywhere. Entertainment Weekly heard that Drew Barrymore might be the one to direct the third installment, ECLIPSE for Summit Entertainment after Chris Weitz replaced Catherine Hardwicke for the sequel, New Moon, which comes out November 20th, 2009

Is Summit not able to hold a director for two movies straight or is this part of their plan to have different person in charge just like James Bond movies? And you would think that after the criticism on Hardwicke, that Summit might pick  someone with more experience instead.
Drew Barrymore just finished her directorial debut WHIP IT! starring Ellen Page. We’ll see how good of a director she is when that movie gets released later this year.
I have respect for Drew Barrymore because she produces her own movies and her style of chick flick might ring true to the Twilight fans but can she handle the action thriller and the visual effect part of the story?
Recent announcement had it that ECLIPSE will be released on June 30th, 2010, the first in the franchise that will be presented as as a Summer blockbuster.
