Optimus Prime TRANSFORMERS 2 Image
USA TODAY has scored another official picture, this time it’s from TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. A shot of Optimus Prime chatting with Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf). Apparently Optimus has been hiding out in an empty cemetery. If you remember from the new spectacular trailer, Optimus says ‘we’ve kept much from you, Sam!’ and Sam replies ‘This isn’t my war!’
The article explains that Optimus is telling Sam key details about a new wave of Decepticons attacking Earth and that basically Sam’s first year in college is gonna get screwed big time by this giant explosive war that got him right in the middle.
“The theme of the movie is what it means to leave home and step into adulthood. Sam has gone away to college and is struggling to be a normal kid, but has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of being a de facto ambassador to robots who have come from another planet,” says writer Alex Kurtzman.
My first year in college was filled with C’s and B minus. I wish some giant robot war had interrupted that whole year. At least, something exciting for a change.

Here’s something to break the tension, check out the vibrant video above if you’d like to watch old Cpt Kirk, William Shatner watch the trailer for the new STAR TREK movie. Of course, you can’t get one on one with Shatner without him wisecracking about George Tekei. Classic.
WOLVERINE Gets Slapped With NC-15 In Sweden For Being Too Violent
And you thought our MPAA over here is uptight, wait til you get a hold of the guys in Sweden. According to Variety, the new movie X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE has been b*tchslapped with the strictest rating, 15 CLASSIFICATION, by the Swedish Board of Film Censors. What it means is that… it’s ike saying the movie is rated NC-15 a.k.a no one under the age of 15 years will be allowed to watch this movie in the theaters in Sweden.
Swedish rating is way different than ours. So instead of PG and R, they got something like rated 11 which was actually given to the previous three X-Men movies. It means kids in that age group can watch the movie in the theater and any one under the age of 7 can do so with parental guardian.
Funny thing is.. movies like Valkyrie, Quantum of Solace and State of Play that are obviously have more adult themes than Wolverine, all got rated 11 over there.
Fox obviously didn’t like this decision and made an appeal but Stockholm’s Administrative Court of Appeal turned them down and backed the censor’s ruling.
The concern is that this situation will encourage kids in Sweden who can’t watch X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE in theater to start downloading the movie and watching it online.
I’m sorry but nothing from the clips or footage I’ve seen of this movie seems to indicate strong violence, if any it would be intense action sequences. But then again my violence radar has been dull due to the years of watching hardcore violent movies and becoming immune to it. Do you think folks in Sweden is over-reacting? Would you let your 14 year old children or niece/nephew to watch Wolverine cut somebody’s head off with is claws?
IRON MAN 2: First Official Picture
As previously promised by director Jon Favreau, the first official picture from IRON MAN 2 is now available via USA TODAY. As you can see, it’s Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark back in his lab, planning something hot rod red awesome. In the article, it’s revealed that the story takes place 6 months after Tony Stark revealed himself as the superhero IRON MAN, in the end scene of the first movie.
“How many superheroes are open about their true identities?” he asks. “We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences — in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore.”
He’s got a good point, can you remember any other superheroes who expose their secret identity like what Tony Stark did? But I’m thinking Tony Stark is too cocky to keep a big secret like that anyway. On the other hand, it would make him more vulnerable to the villains who now know IRON MAN is just human, plus they know where he lives.. I mean Stark has a flashy lifestyle for pete’s sake! It’s practically screaming ‘Look at me!’
Favreau isn’t comfortable sharing more other than that but he is diligently posting updates on Twitter to keep the fans informed as to what’s going on with the project without spoiling too much.
“It’s never easy with summer movies, but we’re trying to keep as much a surprise as possible,”
THE ROAD Gets Theatrical Release Date
Geez, finally! I’ve been waiting for this info and it has now arrived! One of the best books I’ve read in my whole life is Cormac McCarthy’s THE ROAD. Seriously guys, if you haven’t read it, then you’re missing out on what could possibly be the saddest, most thrilling, and touching stories you’ve ever encountered. The movie version starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron was supposed to be released last year but the post-production took forever and they weren’t ready with their work and so it got postponed to this year as a potential Oscar contender. That decision somewhat pissed me off but I figured if they needed some more time to make this movie perfect, then so be it.
And now, via Bloody-Disgusting, Dimension Films has announced the theatrical release date for THE ROAD and it will hit theaters on October 16th, 2009.
Competition’s gonna be pretty tough because Spike Jonze’s adaptation Where The Wild Things Are is released on the same weekend.
I wonder what it would’ve been like if THE ROAD were released last year instead? Would Slumdog Millionaire have a fighting chance? I guess we’ll never know.
THE ROAD is the story of a man (Mortensen) and his young son (Smit-McPhee) traveling through a desperate, post-apocalyptic world
THE LAST VOYAGE OF Marcus Nispel
I didn’t like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre the remake that much and I thought Friday the 13th the remake was practically softcore porn. I was waiting to be scared to sh*t but I got aroused instead..what the hell! I don’t wanna watch a horror flick to get a hard-on.
And so director Marcus Nispel is nothing but a mediocre in my book. Just another filmmaker who can do slashers, whoptidoo. He and Eli Roth should co-direct together an ultimate movie that’s so gory, sex-crazy and disgusting, it’s banned in U.S.A.
But the reason I’ve chosen to include this one is because of the material of the movie. According to Variety, Nispel has got himself another gig that’s his cup of tea, THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER for Phoenix Pictures, scripted by Bragi Schut Jr., the story is based on a chapter in the famous book Bram Stoker’s DRACULA.
It’s about a cargo ship from Bulgaria with destination England but along the way, members of the crew start to disappear and the story ends with the ship crashed into the rocks at Whitby with the dead captain lashed to the steering wheel and all because a Vampire count was on board.
This movie had me on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Nispel or not Nispel behind the camera, I am so watching this.
Americanized DEATH NOTE
I lost count on how many times I’ve gone to my local theater and right before each movie starts, it always has this ad about the movies DEATH NOTE or DEATH NOTE 2, both Asian production and how we should call Fathom to catch the ticket for the screening, and all I could think of was ‘damn, that looked dumb, who the hell wanna watch this crapola?!’ But little did I know that it was actually based on a popular manga series.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. has bought the rights to the graphic novel DEATH NOTE based on the 13 volume Manga best seller written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata for Shueisha Inc
The story centers on a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook dropped on Earth by a shinigami death god. It grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose face they have seen, by writing the victim’s name in the notebook with a picture of the victim in his mind.
Screenwriters Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, who wrote the upcoming Tarsem Singh-directed WAR OF THE GODS movie, have been hired to adapt this American version of DEATH NOTE and it will be based strictly on the manga, not those cheesy movies that were directed by Shūsuke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Japan
Jim Carrey Loves Jodie Foster's BEAVER
I know the title above seems a bit blunt but hell it does have to do with the following info. There’s a comedy script written by Kyle Killen that’s been considered the hottest commodity not yet turned into a movie. According to Risky Biz Blog, The title is THE BEAVER and it’s about between a man and a beaver puppet he wears on his arm, which he talks to and treats as a companion. I’m sure all of us had a puppet friend at one point or another, right? When we were 6, I know.
But who runs through your mind when you think of a man and a beaver puppet friend? Only Jim Carrey can act out such an outrageous idea and make it funny for the big screen. But actually, the name Steve Carell was previously loosely attached to this project. Now Carrey is very interested, producers are interested in him, even The Beaver is falling in love with the hilarious Canadian native, but it all depends on who gets to direct.
Lo and behold, one of the names that came up in their discussion was Jodie Foster. I’m probably one of the few guys on earth who still thinks she’s a hot old broad, her tough roles have made her even more irresistible in my opinion. Foster’s directing gig in the past included Home For The Holidays and Little Man Tate but that was years ago. Can Jim Carrey depend on Foster’s rusty directing skills? Her involvement isn’t locked in yet but it’d be interesting to see her helm this gig.
Okay, to end this.. in regards to ‘Beaver’. I remember the comedy central roast of Pamela Anderson a few years ago. Comedian Jeff Ross got the mic and he said that he’s appaled Pamela Anderson is out there defending animal rights, fighting against animal violence when at the same time, she’s constantly torturing her beaver!
New TRANSFORMERS 2 Trailer!
The New trailer for TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN has hit the web, you can watch the HD version on Yahoo. The trailer will be attached to X-Men Origins: Wolverine which I’m sure most of you will watch tonight at the midnight showing.
This badass trailer starts out with the footage that was shown at ShoWest and ends with some mayhem and destruction out in the desert. Shia Labeouf got some secret symbols locked up in his head and Did I see Megan Fox shedding at tear? wonder how many takes did he she have to go through until she’s finally able to pull it off.
‘Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing’, some line huh? What do you think of all this?
