Look! It’s AVATAR! I kid.. I kid.. it’s the first look at THE SMURFS in 3D. Via comingsoon, it looks claymation at this point. The movie will also be in hybrid (mix of live action and CG). Maybe the villain Gargamel will be played by a human.
THE SMURFS is distributed by Sony and it’s scheduled to hit theaters on December 17th, 2010. No word yet on when the teaser will arrive but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s attached to Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 which opens this coming Christmas.

Fox Gets Goldsman To Produce FANTASTIC FOUR The Reboot
Well that was quick. On the same day that Disney said it’s buying Marvel entertainment, Fox is putting on the fast track its plan to re-boot FANTASTIC FOUR. Disney may own Marvel’s 5000 characters but the previous deals Marvel made with other studios before today’s shocking event remain in motion until further notice. That means Fox which has been responsible for X-Men movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and its Japan story sequel, Deadpool spin-off and of course FANTASTIC FOUR, can still control these titles as long as it continues making the movies while Marvel remains a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement.
Variety reported that Fox has summoned Akiva Goldsman, the Oscar winning screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind and producer of I Am Legend, to be the producer and to oversee FANTASTIC FOUR the reboot.
The new script will be written by Michael Green, the co-writer of the upcoming DC adaptation, GREEN LANTERN starring Ryan Reynolds
No word yet whether Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis will reprise their roles again as Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. But let’s face it, they were awful and why bother calling it a reboot if you keep the same players?!
The first movie, Fantastic Four (2005) was made with a budget of $100 Million and only earned $150 Million, the second one did just as bad, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007) was made with a budget of $130 Million and only earned $131 Million.
Who do you think should be cast as the new FANTASTIC FOUR?
Keanu Reeves’ CRIME
It’s been a while since Keanu Reeves was in a romantic comedy, since 2003’s Something’s Gotta Give to be exact. We know he’s got that live action COWBOY BEBOP in his pocket but seems like he wants take a kit-kat brake before tackling that adaptation.
According to Variety, the man who knows kung fu, Keanu Reeves will produce and star in HENRY’S CRIME, written by Sacha Gervasi, the story is a Capra-esque romantic comedy about a big-hearted man (Reeves) who is falsely accused of robbing a bank in Buffalo.
The project will be financed through private equity and currently has no distributor yet but it will be directed by Malcolm Venville. Production starts this November in Buffalo.
Reeves and co-producer Stephen Hamel run Company Films, the banner behind this movie and Scott Fischer, through his First Star Films banner, who put up development money for the project, will exec-produce
Rebecca De Mornay Is The MOTHER
Those of us fans of the 1983 classic Risky Business will never forget the sight of Rebecca De Mornay. That movie was not all just about Tom Cruise and his shades and that famous old time rock n’ roll dance, it was about De Mornay’s sexual seduction. Even when she scared the sh*t out of us, as the evil nanny, in The Hands That Rocked The Cradle, that sex appeal never left her at all.
She’s now about 50 years old, career-wise she is a bit on the cold side but she’s about to make a comeback with MOTHER’S DAY the remake.
According to Variety and Hollywood Reporter, De Mornay will play the title character, the mother from hell in the new take directed by Darren Lynn Bousman based on the demented Charles Kaufman’s 1980 cult classic.
The original version is about 3 girlfriends who are out in the woods having some fun when unbeknown to them that a mother and her two boys are there as well and they’re up to no good, and by up to no good I mean the two grown ass boys rape and torture those 3 girls and the mother enjoys watching it all happen.
The remake, however, Scott Milam’s script will expand the villainous family, led by the sadistic mother (De Mornay) to include a daughter (Deborah Ann Woll), they’ll return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
Jaime King will play the woman of the house, a wife who has lost her child and is isolating herself from her husband. Shawn Ashmore and Briana Evigan will play guests. And Matt O’Leary is one of Mother’s disturbed sons.
Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW II, III, IV)
Production starts in the fall in Manitoba and MOTHER’S DAY is scheduled to open next year… on Mother’s Day.

Which Marvel Superhero Movie Should Pixar Make?
I’m still shocked at the info about Disney company buying Marvel entertainment, I’ve always known Mouse is a freakin’ giant that can buyout and devour anything it wants but I didn’t see this coming at all. Well, after all the remake and sequel info, I guess it’s refreshing to have something this massive to hit us once in a blue moon.
John Lasseter, one of the genius minds behind Pixar animation studios, the Oscar winning filmmaker of Toy Story, previously said that he’s very excited about the opportunity of Pixar working with Marvel now that Disney owns 5000 of Marvel characters.
But since IRON MAN 2, THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and THE AVENGERS are already in development, let me ask you…Which other Marvel superhero movie should Pixar make and can you see Pixar playing this game? Can you even imagine a Marvel movie with Pixar filmmaking style? Where is ILM going to be involved in all this? I thought The Incredibles was kinda like Pixar’s superhero movie. Does this mean we might see Marvel characters doing cameos in THE INCREDIBLES 2?
Besides.. Pixar movies, though may contain some adult themes, have always been kid-friendly while Marvel’s characters sometimes would have stories that are more targeted at young adult audiences.
Maybe Pixar could make ANT-MAN Movie since director Edgar Wright never seriously got on that project anyway. Or.. I’ve been hearing director Louis Leterrier always wanted to do THE INCREDIBLE HULK 2 and he’s got some ideas cooked up maybe Pixar could help realize his vision.
Or maybe a reboot of THE FANTASTIC FOUR, God knows we could use that.
Disney To Buy Marvel For $4 Billion
Wow! Way to start your Monday morning, huh?! I must’ve woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Press release from Walt Disney company has hit the web, via Marketwatch, and it shocked just about every Marvel and Mouse fan all over the world. Disney is going to buy Marvel for $4 Billion. I kid you not. Keep in mind that all this time, Marvel Island always been with Universal theme park and none of Marvel superhero movies were made with Disney so it’d be interesting to see how this will affect IRON MAN 2, CAPTAIN AMERICA, THOR and THE AVENGERS although Paramount is still in contract to distribute those movies, Columbia (Sony) is in contract with SPIDER-MAN 4, 5 and 6 and Fox is in charge of WOLVERINE and X-MEN
With this deal, Disney will own more than 5,000 Marvel characters and is hoping to distribute Marvel movies down the line.
Do you like the idea of this impending marriage? The complete press release is below including a few updates about John Lassater of Pixar who’s very excited about this merge and is looking forward to a collaboration between Marvel and Pixar.
