The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Sum of All Fears. Those are all movies about the hero Jack Ryan created by author Tom Clancy but according to moviehole the next Jack Ryan movie may not be based on Tom Clancy’s novel, it might not even be done by the director Philip Noyce who helmed two of the movies. It gets stranger… Jack Ryan might be played by Ryan Gosling.
But an update info from the website says that Philip Noyce might still be attached to the project BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. It would be the first unofficial Jack Ryan film. And the word is that the story will follow up Clear and Present Danger. So that gives a hint that there may be a big possibility that Harrison Ford would return as Jack Ryan.
Philip Noyce actually wanted to The Sum of All Fears but Ford thought the script stunk worse than skunk’s butthole. And he was right. The movie went to director Robinson, starring Ben Affleck, and it was horrible. I hated that movie.
It was a thriller without a thrill. It’s clear to see that audiences will never see Ben Affleck as a hero. He’s better off standing behind the camera directing… he’s pretty good at it (Gone Baby Gone). People are more willing to pay money to see Ford than Affleck so having Indy Jones back as Jack Ryan would be good for business.
There’s no confirmation if Ford is really in this new project. I hope he agrees to do this movie. I remember reader Ryan once said that most Harrison Ford’s movies have similarities and I quote:
“He’s starring in yet another “Lay off my family ’cause I’m gonna hunt you down by the end of the movie!” movie”
Hahaha.. that’s so true.
So let’s see…. there are at least three franchises that Harrison Ford has been involved in: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan movies. Am I missing anything?
