Alan Horn on DARK KNIGHT Sequel Rumors and GREEN LANTERN Might Be WB's Next

Green Lantern

All these silly rumors about Rachel Weisz being the Catwoman and that Eddie Murphy might play The Riddler or Shia Labeouf as Robin to me are just the fans’ desperate cry for another BATMAN movie.
To some, they haven’t seen a good movie worth seeing in a long time and then bam! THE DARK KNIGHT came around and blew everybody’s mind, it’s as if from then on out they won’t care about any other movie and all they want to see is what’s going to happen next.
THE DARK KNIGHT has, in my humble opinion, restored people’s trust in the power of cinema.

But the fact remains that Chris Nolan isn’t locked in for another installment yet, no matter how believable you try to make the rumor sound.
WB President Alan Horn talked with Collider recently and confirmed that nothing is in the works yet although they’d love for Nolan to come up with something again but they’re going to respect his timing.
Hey, if I were the President of WB and Chris Nolan has made the studio look good with a masterpiece like THE DARK KNIGHT, I’d also do the same thing, hell I’d give whatever space and time he needs until he’s ready.

“We’ve been talking to Chris Nolan and what we have to do is get him in the right place and have him tell us what he thinks the notion might be for a great story, but Chris did a great job and we’d love to have him come back and do another one.”

As far as the timing of the project, he went onto say: “The story is everything and we are very respectful of Chris. We have a wonderful relationship with him and we are going to be respectful of his timing and we want to get it right. Also, I think the fans expect that – they want us to make a terrific movie – we have to give them another great movie.”

He also mentioned that they are “very anxious to bring Superman back” but it looks like WB’s next project might involve another superhero for the time being, a superhero with a certain powerful ring.

“I think Green Lantern is probably the best guess but I can’t promise it at this moment,” Horn said, adding that it’s “On the runway. Hasn’t taken off yet, but we’re close.”
