Via CHUD, Tomorrow we’ll all get to say, Happy 25th Birthday, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! In celebration of that, Organizers from the Tribeca Film Festival are throwing a special free screening of the 1990 movie adaptation at the World Financial Center in the New York city, which will be turned into the sewer set from the film and the only way you get in for the party is if you dress like those ass-kicking turtles.
But that’s not all, ya see.. for the past year, there’s been an ongoing debate as to how to bring back Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the big screen and it got confusing because the co-creator Kevin Eastman said there’s going to be another live action movie, but then writer Stephen Murphy said it wasn’t true..but then co-creator Peter Laird said it might happen but it will be in a hybrid format, meaning there’ll be human actors but our four heros will be CGIs much like Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
I think they were just messing with our heads because now, according to Variety, a new Live action movie of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES is definitely happening! Somebody pass me the pizza!
The Mirage Group that owns the property is moving forward with the origin story of these really cool crime fighting team: Donatello, Michaelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo
The new movie is set for release in 2011. SPIDERMAN 4 better watch out!
Will it be in 3D? No word yet but I wouldn’t be surprised. One thing for sure, producer Scott Mednick said that the story will stay loyal to the story from the original comicbook and they might employ face replacement technology for the movie to make the turtles look more expressive as opposed to how puppet-like they were in the 90s movies.
