THE LaBeouf ASSOCIATE

LaBeoufParamount has been good to Shia LaBeouf and so is the other way around, After Transformers Movies and Indiana Jones 4, Shia won’t be unemployed much longer because he’s signed on to do another big budget movie funded by super producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. Man, there’s no stopping this guy!
Via Variety, The project is titled THE ASSOCIATE based on a book that hasn’t been published yet. Yup, Hollywood has a knack for doing things like that. It’s written by one of my favorite authors, John Grisham who’s known for his legalistic stories and his ethics.

The book will hit the stand on January 27th 2009. I really thought Hollywood was going to make the movie version of THE BROKER first, which was Grisham’s creation back in 2005, but I guess that’s not the case anymore.
It’s kinda unfair in a way, setting something in motion when we, avid readers, haven’t even got the chance to read and judge the book yet.
In THE ASSOCIATE, LaBeouf will play a student who’s about to graduate from Yale Law School when he’s manipulated into accepting a job at a prestige law firm and given privileged information about a multibillion-dollar lawsuit.
And just like most heroes in Grisham’s stories, it’s going to involve a bunch of bad guys in suit chasing after LaBeouf because he knows too much.

Do you agree with some who say that Shia LaBeouf is the Next Tom Hanks??

The new Tom Hanks? Depends. If you mean the fact that the young man is also looking at a great future with possible some fine performances, I have to say ‘yeah’, no doubt.

Overhere Shia became kinda famous when ‘Disturbia’ and ‘Transformers’ came out. But I’m under the impression that he’s still not the big upcoming star he deserves to be at this moment in Europe. Most people I know don’t know who he is unless you say, the kid from ‘Transformers’.

As for me, I was a bit under the impression by his very natural way of acting when I saw the unknown ‘Holes’ in theaters years ago. Thinking that he’s someone to watch in the future. Later, I recognized him in ‘Constantine’, where he was a good sidekick, imo.

He was good and so damn funny in the not so great ‘Bobby’, he made ‘Disturbia’ and ‘Eagle Eye’ look better than it actually was, he saved ‘Transformers’ from being total crap, did well as the son of Dr. Jones (exept for the Tarzan-bullshit) and he blew me away with his strong performance in ‘A Guide to …’.

I think he’s a fine actor that has a very natural acting-skill and lots of charisma. With the right material he could do wonderful things, I’m sure.
