James Horner Avatar

James Horner is the master score composer who won 2 Oscars for Titanic, he also was nominated for his work on Field Of DreamsAliens and A Beautiful Mind, and he’s the genius behind that awesome courageous inspiring theme in Braveheart. Another perk of watching James Cameron’s great movies is Cameron’s total trust in Horner who’s scoring for the upcoming 3D epic AVATAR.
Via moviescore magazine, the executive vice president of Fox Music, Mike Knobloch describes as it ‘epic’ and ‘cinematic’..

“It’s a brilliantly unique blend of traditional and contemporary, electronic elements and spans the entire spectrum of attitude and energy – from bombastic action to the delicate, romantic discovery of a new world.”

“is a great deal of acoustic and electronic rhythmic elements driving the score and vocalists singing and chanting in the fictional Na’vi dialect. Horner is doing a brilliant job of creating music that transports us to another world, but supports the film using the traditional orchestral conventions to make a sound that’s hugely cinematic.”

Here’s a bit of what you can anticipate

Sometimes I wish, the greats like Hans Zimmer and James Horner and John Newton Howard would also do similar gig like what my hero John Williams does and by that I mean for them to appear with their orchestra at Hollywood Bowl every year and entertain us with great songs from all kinds of movies.
The main orchestra used for the AVATAR score has over 100 musicians, eight horns, four trumpets and five trombones, 70 players of string section, featuring vocalists singing in the film’s Na’vi language, plus other acoustic and electronic instrumentalists.
Turns out, Horner has been doing pre-records and working with Cameron on this score since June 2008. Wow.. more than a year working on this, that’s a long time considering he only worked 3 1/2 weeks to finish about 80 minutes of music for ALIENS back in 1986
The AVATAR score will be released on CD by Atlantic Records but the release date has yet to be announced.
