Call me a hater but the fact is not only does Jessica Alba need to eat some real food, she also needs to go back to acting school or get a different job. Maybe she could just stay as magazine cover model and nothing else. The movie AWAKE goes to show that Hayden “Anakin” Christensen and Jessica “Dark Angel” Alba are… perfect for each other. Two untalented movie stars who depend only on their looks to get employment. Having said that and getting that part out of the way, AWAKE isn’t such a bad thriller after all.
Clay (Hayden Christensen) undergoes surgery and he’s supposed to be drugged to sleep, but it fails to do just that, and so he could still hear and feel his body being operated and cut open and all that good stuff. The experience is called “Anesthetic Awareness”. What he’s about to hear is a nightmare he wish wasn’t a part of.
A story that plays with people’s fear of the operating room.
I think the writing isn’t great but still,.. the twists are unexpected and that reason alone would be good enough to keep you from walking out of the theaters too soon.
I think people who’ve never seen better thrillers would be easily impressed by this movie.
Now.. people who are familiar with surgery and have medical backgrounds would probably find much inaccuracies portrayed in this movie. I’m surprised Dr. House didn’t show up in one of the scenes and b**chslap everybody inside that hospital.
Overall, AWAKE would’ve been better if it had had better actors. All the while I was watching it, wondering, “What the hell is Terrence Howard doing surrounded by class B performers? He shouldn’t be in this movie!”
You’re better off watching this movie when it comes out on DVD.
