You can’t pick and choose what the biggest info of the evening will be, some days it’s AVATAR trailer, and on other days it could be.. YOGI BEAR. But after it was announced and developed more than a year ago and a director was chosen last winter, it was a matter of time before the casting begins and 3 fans of the Hanna-Barbera classic have signed on to star…
According to Variety and Hollywood Reporter, Dan Aykroyd, hottie Anna Faris and girls’ heartthrob singer/actor Justin Timberlake are going to Jellystone Park.
The report says Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in the fictional Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake will voice Yogi’s side-kick, Boo Boo, how ironic, Boo-Boo is my first reaction when I think of Timberlake’s songs.
That said, I think Timberlake did a bang up job in Black Snake Moan
I have full trust in Faris’ comedic timing. And Aykroyd will carry the torch that was once held by the late greats who’ve done the voice of Yogi in the past, Daws Butler, and later by Greg Burson.
YOGI BEAR may have been my least favorite character out of all that Hanna-Barbera came up with but I’m going to give this movie a fighting chance, who knows.. it might feel nostalgic just like what Alvin and The Chipmunks movie did a couple of years ago.
This hybrid (mix of live action and CG) will start production in New Zealand next month. The script was written by Brad Copeland with original draft by Joshua Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia. Directed by Eric Brevig (Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D)
Here’s the official synopsis, via IESB..
Live-Action/CG Animated Adventure in 3D. Everyone’s favorite pic-a-nic basket-stealing bear comes to the big screen in “Yogi Bear.” Jellystone Park has been losing business, so greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors — and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they’ve ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is “smarter than the average bear” as he and Boo Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.
