Batman: Gotham Knight
Gotham Knight is thunderous way to open for the movie THE DARK KNIGHT. It is groundbreaking and more visionary than Animatrix. The 6 short films compiled into one excellent journey that takes us into the mythology of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The action sequences will give… natural high for us Batman fans and every comic books aficionado everywhere. The movie captures the essence of the Caped Crusader. You’re gonna wish the episodes would never end.

BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT is a fresh new exciting entry into the Batman mythos, spinning out of a 40 year history in animation. Six stand alone chapters each with stylish art from some of Japan’s greatest anime visionaries, weave together into a larger story that follows Batman through his transition from beginner to THE DARK KNIGHT

Batman: Gotham Knight

I can’t say enough about how awesome this animation is. I’m not a big fan of manga/Japanimation or whatever you wanna call it these days, though I did however like some of the creation I once knew growing up as a kid. Batman to me has always been an American based character and so to have it in this form, it’s a whole new level of ball game.
The exaggerated expression in the faces of the characters actually helps in showing us how evil someone maybe, or the conflicted soul of our very own hero, who can be vulnerable at times.

The episodes take us into understanding a little bit about his past, what it is that makes him so tough even when he’s all human. As always, the death of his parents come into play in deciding who he is now that he’s Bruce Wayne in the day time and a hero at night. We are shown what he’s willing to go through to do what he has to without risking a person’s life. Batman isn’t a saint, he fights violence with violence but as gloomy as his situations may be, he’ll try to prevent any casualty if necessary. The episode Cross fire validates his place among those who basically do the same thing he does but without any mask on. I really enjoy the first episode, not only it is a fun take on different people having different personal story about him but once again, Batman is just human and could use someone’s help from time to time.

I admire the animators who brought us this amazing spectacle, but most of all I admire the writers including David Goyer and Josh Olson who chose not to go astray from how director Christoper Nolan (The Dark Knight) wanted his Batman to be.

This is a perfect direct to DVD anime to anticipate 2008 Summer blockbuster THE DARK KNIGHT. A great addition to the new franchise that brings back Batman to his natural state of being instead of the colorful, silly ones portrayed in the 90s films. BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT re-introduces us to how things have been since Batman Begins and it sets up for what our hero has to face in the new installment.
