I just got back from L.A. and I received an e-mail from Rama’s SCREEN reader, the hardcore fan of everything Twilight, Violet, who directed me to a link on MTV website way back in last December, an article that stated Michael Copon (Scorpion King 2) campaigning heavily to replace actor Taylor Lautner as Jacob in the Twilight sequel movie, NEW MOON. As we know, his dream was crushed because early this month it was confirmed that Lautner will return and bulk up a few pounds of muscles to earn and win the trust of the fans who think he sucked in the first installment.
But what Violet was trying to emphasize is the info on the bottom page of that same article…
“With the buzz building for these roles, MTV News has confirmed that 27-year-old “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” heartthrob Ben Barnes is throwing his hat into the ring. The actor is already quite popular with the “Twilight” fanbase and shares the same manager as both Copon and “Twilight” star Cam Gigandet. Barnes is believed to be campaigning for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire whose “New Moon” encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together. “
So without further adue, here’s comment from our very own, Violet, the Twilight aficionado…
“Haven’t heard or seen anything to say it’s not true. I don’t even know if he has the part right now….but Aro is a difficult character because though he is beautiful, he looks very different from the other vampires. He is much, much older, probably one of the oldest vampires and he is one of the three vampire “kings”. Aro has paper thin, almost transulcent skin and his eyes look like he has a major cast of cataracts. Aro is an important character in this movie because he plays a very large role in Bella and Edward’s future life.
I think Ben Barnes will make an excellent Aro.”
As a ben barnes fan i think that he’ll make a great vampire in new moon. I dont see anyone else putting their hands up for the role of Aro. The part belo[ngs to Ben, The reason why is that is because he suits it better than anyone else.
shouldn’t they get someone older to play aro??? he’s an extremely important part and he has to look just right. i just can’t picture ben as aro. sorry.

Me? I am so so routing for Ben Barnes to play Aro… Aro is my fav character in New Moon, Breaking Dawn… I believe Ben Barnes will do a great job in playing the role.. I mean he didnt dissapoint me when i realise he will play the role of Aro.. In fact i reckon he is really good looking… So totally supporting him!
BEn Barnes is the PERFECT Aro!! He can definitely play the part.
i thought aro was supposed 2 b old! u kno wit long fingernails n rinkly skin n all that. i mean i like ben barnes but i jus dnt think someone so young should play aro!
I’m not anti-Ben Barnes, but I don’t think he would play a good Aro. I mean, I pictured Aro as an older type vampire. I pictured him as someone with tons of authority and someone everyone would be afraid of! Carisle and Aro in the book were supposed to be old friends, and so I would think Aro would be someone around Carisle’s age.
I think Ben will make a gr8 Aro. The book duznt hav 2 b exactly lik the movie. it nevr iz. so go ahead gt a little crazy and thro out the ROMEO Ben Barnes out ther. aftr all Dawn treader iz not going 2 com out. im not saying thz b/c he’s my favourite actor ( which he iz ),b/c he has a shot and has some pretty awesome talent. Twilight is a growing topic. You might just as well grab all the hot popular actors and actresses out ther! Ben you hav a shot!!!

Great Post! Well, I was wondering if this is true. I found a link where to download New Moon Movie..I guess this is a leak just like what happened to X-Men Origins.
