When everybody else makes fun of your project, your first instinct is to defend it no matter how stupid you might sound in the process. I don’t mean to be harsh but gimme a break, BEVERLY HILLS COP 4?! They should learn that fourth installments usually don’t work… with the exception of Live Free or Die Hard of course.
Director Brett Raner spoke, via MTV, and revealed the title..
“We’re not going to call it ‘4,’ he said. “It will be a new ‘Beverly Hills Cop.’”
“It’s a reinvention,” the director revealed. “I’m going to reintroduce it to a contemporary audience. I’m going to take the best of the first two films and put it into the new one.”
“Eddie Murphy to me was what Chris Tucker is to 12 and 13 year olds today,” he said. “I would never do another buddy cop movie, but to do ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ is a dream for me. Eddie is a genius.”
I remember that,.. there was point in time where everybody was talking about how Chris Tucker was the next Eddie Murphy.
Is Ratner intending to replace Eddie Murphy with Tucker for this so-called re-imagining?
He also commented on the BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 Script that supposedly leaked online..
“There was all this stuff on the Internet and they’d read a script,” he said. “It’s not the script I’m making.”
Sure, the script he’s making is probably even dumber.
