Beverly Hills Ninja

If only Chris Farley was still alive, can you imagine the movies that Judd Apatow would have for Farley do?! I’m tellin’ ya,.. we lost a great fat awesome comedian a decade ago, damn you, heroin!
But his legacy seems to continue..
According to Variety, There’s going to be BEVERLY HILLS NINJA 2 which will film in South Korea starting next month, making it the first mainstream Hollywood movie to do so. Sony Pictures Entertainment holds North American distribution rights. 70% of the film will shoot in South Korea, with 30% in the U.S. The project is scheduled to wrap its Korean shoot on Nov. 20 and continue Stateside until the end of December. Sony is eyeing a May release date in U.S. and June in South Korea.

Okay, so far it sounds like this whole thing is like a big multinational business rather than just about making funny movie for the audience to enjoy.

The writer and co-producer of the the 1997 original film starring Chris Farley, Mitch Klebanoff has scripted and will direct the sequel. The story involves an orphaned boy who wants to be a ninja but becomes involved in a crime in Hollywood while looking for his real parents.
Guess who’s involved in this sequel?! David Hasselhoff, Lucas Grabeel (”High School Musical“) and Taiwanese model-turned-actress Lin Chiling (Red Cliff) have all signed on.

Now it doesn’t say who’s going to be playing the main role. Chris Farley does have a brother named Kevin Farley, an actor in the upcoming comedy AN AMERICAN CAROL, he’s as fat as Chris was and bears a striking resemblance but his name is not attached to the project.
Maybe they might even pick some unknown, new actor, a nobody.
Not certain if this going to be released in theaters or something that would go straight to DVD.
I thought the first movie was laugh out loud funny. It’s a classic in my book. I’m not sure if this sequel can top that one. Bigger question would be how the hell are you going to pull this off without Chris?! I think it’s fair to assume that this project would have big probability of becoming a total failure.
