When I think of a Live action WONDER WOMAN movie, I would picture someone like Megan Fox as the Amazonian heroine, or I can see TV’s Felicity star Kerri Russell as the lead character too… and if they want to put in some great acting to the good looks, Hollywood should cast maybe someone like Claire Danes. yes, she’s not in here 20s anymore, but Robert Downey Jr. ain’t young either and he’s Iron Man, for pete’s sake, and he does a banged up job too.
But never in a million years have I ever considered Beyonce as WONDER WOMAN, don’t get me wrong, she’s got the body and the looks but can she pull it off? It all depends on whether or not DC Comics & WB want to hire her for the job. Beyoncé talked to LA TIMES recently and said that she has met with representatives of DC Comics and Warner Bros. to express her interest in a major role in one of the many comic-book adaptations, specifically WONDER WOMAN.
“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great,” she said. “And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?
“I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it’d be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.”
“After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero,’” said Beyonce. “Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”
“I’m open to suggestions!”
As far as race/skin color goes, I don’t have a problem.. we’re living in the age where the President of the USA is black and Nick Fury is played by Samuel L. Jackson.
A black WONDER WOMAN would not be such a bad idea but if that were the case, I’d prefer Kerri Washington (Lakeview Terrace) for the role.
Last I heard about the project of making live action movie of WONDER WOMAN was that it has been put to a halt until further notice, meaning producers Joel Silver and Leonard Goldberg are not making this their priority for the time being but it’s not fully terminated, it just won’t happen anytime soon… one thing for sure, they want it to be an origin story.
At one point, Katie Holmes also expressed her interest in playing the female superhero, seems like more and more actors and actresses now would meet with DC Comics and WB, begging to play the character they’ve adored since they were kids.
