Here we go again, another board game that’s going to get some big screen makeover. According to Variety, Universal has hired Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) to write and Kevin Lima (Enchanted) to direct a movie version based on the once famous Harsbro racing board game CANDY LAND.
No plot yet, but between you and me.. how on earth are you going to come up with a decent storyline for this one without escaping the possibility that it might just be the dumbest idea ever?!
There’s going to be more like this coming to a theater near you. Last month, I shared with you that Monopoly, Hot Wheels, Magic 8 Ball, Max Steel, and even Barbie are just some of the titles that are going to be developed. Toy based movies seem to be the in-thing now.
When we cry out for originality instead of remakes and sequels.. I don’t think Hollywood got the message because toy based movies isn’t exactly what we had in mind.
