BIOSHOCK The Movie

I’m not a big video gamer, I used to play, video games are addictive, kinda like a high tech nicotine or a computerized caffeine or some sort, I used to sit right in front of the small screen with a controller in my hand and would just play and play for hours.
But I’m sure all you gamers out there would very enjoy this info.

Bioshock

According to Variety, Gore Verbinski, who directed Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, has agreed to direct the movie version of BIOSHOCK, based on the popular video game that sold more than 2 million units worldwide just last year alone.
This big project is believed to be biggest video game-to-movie deal since 2005

The story takes place in an underwater city based on the free market principles of Ayn Rand, but things have gone disastrously wrong. Players control a pilot who crash-lands at a secret entrance to the city, called Rapture, and is drawn into a power struggle during which he discovers that his will is not as free as he’d thought.

When asked why he’s interested in helming such a project, this is what he said…

“I think the whole utopia-gone-wrong story that’s cleverly unveiled to players is just brimming with cinematic potential,” said Verbinski. “Of all the games I’ve played, this is one that I felt has a really strong narrative.”

So Gore Verbinski plays BIOSHOCK. Cool beans. I hated Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End, I thought they were boring. But I’d rather have Gore Verbinski who is a gamer and a decent filmmaker to take on this video game based movies than someone who’s done movies based on video games but done a horrible job in making them… someone like Uwe Boll.
