Sam Shepard Snow White

Since the production and financing for the following two projects are being handled by the same company, it’s time for killing 2 birds with 1 stone. According to Variety, Arcadia, one of the two or three Spanish companies regularly tapping tax breaks in Spain, has announced BLACKTHORN which will bring back the legendary Butch Cassidy. No Paul Newman this time, may he rest in peace, the role will now be played by Sam Shepard (Black Hawk Down), along with that is also the re-imagining of the classic tale SNOW WHITE. Find out more about these two after the jump…

BLACKTHORN will be an English-language movie with the story set around 1910, it’s been 15 years after his supposed gunning down by the Bolivian police,  an incognito Butch Cassidy is planning to return to the U.S. and retire. Eduardo Noriega is set to play a trigger-happy cowboy who loses Cassidy’s life savings, pushing Cassidy into a final job, a mine heist and Stephen Rea will play a railroad employee, originally sent after Cassidy following his string of U.S. bank robberies, who’s still keen to hunt Cassidy down.
It will cost $7.5 Million to make BLACKTHORN, filming will start March 2010 in locations in Spain and Bolivia.
SNOW WHITE will have a Spanish twist, not only in the language but the story will also be set in the 1920s Seville, the genre is more of a comedy and my favorite part.. the 7 dwarfs are circus bullfighters. That’s going to be amusing to watch. Starring hottie Maribel Verdu (Y Tu Mama Tambien) as the evil stepmother.
