We saw the previous first look and now USA TODAY has some more official images from the upcoming post-apocalypse drama/thriller THE BOOK OF ELI starring Denzel Washington who apparently shed 60 pounds for the role just to look like he’s been skin and bones from wandering around desolate lands. The man will go deep for his roles. I’ve included three of the images here including a shot of the great Gary Oldman as the town leader, for the rest you can check them out OVER THERE.
Directed by the Hughes brothers who haven’t done jack since that Jack the Ripper flick From Hell starring Johnny Depp, remember that one?
Washington also said that he was persuaded by his son to do THE BOOK OF ELI, the same son who also talked him into doing American Gangster and Training Day. That kid’s gonna grow up to become one hell of an agent someday.
My concern remains, the fact is.. movies that come out in January are usually ain’t worth our time or money.
The story revolves around a lone warrior (Washington) who must fight to bring society the knowledge that could be the key to its redemption. Oldman has been set to portray the despot of a small makeshift town who’s determined to take possession of the book Eli’s guarding.
