It’s good to be Steve Carell. He’s enjoying the best of both worlds. He’s got The Office that’s more like a steady job and he’s also a movie star with DINNER WITH SCHMUCKS, DESPICABLE ME and DATE NIGHT to open next year. Back about 6 or 7 years ago he was just an anchorman and a weatherman. You know which movies I’m talkin’ about right? WB still doesn’t know when GET SMART 2 will start production but it doesn’t mean the studio doesn’t have gigs for Carell to do during his hiatus from the series…
According to Variety, WB has bought an untitled spec script from the screenwriter of Cars, Fred Claus and Bolt, Dan Fogelman in a deal worth nearly $2 million against $2.5 million. Fogelman wrote the story with Carell in mind, it’s about a father whose life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children. Gee.. no wonder.. it sounds like Dan In Real Life but the wife is still alive. But this untitled drama has been compared to Love Actually.
Carell’s production company Carousel is producing the project.
