Brad Pitt Gunsmoke Ryan Reynolds

GUNSMOKE was the longest running shows on TV way back in the day starring James Arness as Marshall Matt Dillon. Hmm… I wonder if actor Matt Dillon’s got his name because of.. o well, back to info, LA TIMES said CBS films has been trying to develop a big screen version of this classic series with a draft by scribe Gregory Poirier (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) which the studio really likes, the dilemma is to try to find an actor worthy enough to wear Dillon’s badge…

There are several actors considered but 2 names are top contenders. One is Brad Pitt who’s done western before with The Assassination Of Jesse James and the other one is Ryan Reynolds who’s currently busy prepping for 2 superhero projects, GREEN LANTERN and later on, DEADPOOL.
I’d choose neither.. I’d cast Robert Downey Jr., that way he can sort of make up for turning down COWBOYS & ALIENS.
There’s another dilemma, no director is attached yet, at least not at the moment so CBS Films is currently talking to filmmakers while also working on casting
I really enjoyed 3:10 To Yuma the remake, maybe James Mangold would be interested in returning to this genre and paying a visit to Dodge City. I would love to see Amy Adams play Miss Kitty Russell, originally played by the late Amanda Blake.
The studio wants to contemporize the look and feel of GUNSMOKE while maintaining that American West setting.
