Men In Black

Like it or not, MEN IN BLACK 3 is happening, we’ve known about this since spring and I thought it was going to be put on the back burner, never to be mentioned again. But Columbia Pictures hasn’t forgotten. Variety says the studio has hired Tropic Thunder co-writer Etan Cohen to write MEN IN BLACK 3

No word yet or no deal has been made to get Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to return but let’s face it, they’re not going to move forward unless those two are locked in. The project will only get a greenlight to go if those Oscar worthy actors are officially involved.
But BAD BOYS III is also happening, so which one is Will going to do first?

I didn’t like MIB:2, just like most sequels out there, that sequel was all just about ‘fireworks’ and nothing else.
As much as I enjoyed Tropic Thunder, keep in mind that it was a collaborative work, writers Ben Stiller, Justin Theroux and Etan Cohen. So we don’t know if Cohen writing MIB:3 all by himself is a good idea.
They currently don’t wanna share the direction they have in mind for this third installment. But what do you think the plot should be about? I take it a new ultimate alien villain with a hunger for world domination will be introduced.
The studio wants production to start in Spring 2010
MEN IN BLACK 3 is expected to open in theaters in 2011

The first MEN IN BLACK in 1997 was made with a budget of $90 Million and it earned $250 Million domestically
MEN IN BLACK II in 2002 was made with a budget of $140 Million and earned a disappointing $190 Million domestically.

  1. Jeremy says:

Bring it on. Seriously fun franchise.

Bring back Sonnenfeld, Lee Jones, Smith, and Elfman and I’ll be happy.

  2. Frankie says:

Can one of these people get Will Smith to actually act and quit being himself in a suit? It gets old.

  3. Rama says:

But Will Smtih in a suit is what sold the first two movies.
Just like Bad Boys franchise, that’s basically Will Smith with machine guns

  4. Frankie says:

It gets old. It’s like watching the same movie but diffferent scenery. He needs to stop being himself and do something different like an cracked-out druglord or an abusive construction worker.

If Keanu Reeves can play an abusive redneck very well in the “The Gift” so can Will Smith. No excuse.

  5. Rama says:

I see your point, don’t you think his performance in The Pursuit of Happyness was different?

  6. Frankie says:

Nope…It’s Will Smith in a wrinkled suit. 7 pounds….same thing Will Smith in a pressed suit just sad.

I can’t stand any movies where he is a holding a gun. MIB, BadBoys, I robot, ID4, Wild Wild West(OMG)

When you are an officer of the law or in the military. You have a deameanor and a posture that is so distinct from a person who hasn’t been in the military or law enforcement. Will Smith just doesn’t have it at all. Plus on top of that…he doesn’t even know how to hold a gun right.

If you can’t do the part right then don’t do it at all and just do chick flicks. When all else fails do piss-poor vampire movies like the Twilight Saga since shallow mental abusive characters is what’s hot right now.
