Director Edward Zwick seems to love making movies with subjects that are war torn like Glory, Courage Under Fire, and one of last year’s excellent most relevant movies, Blood Diamond. This time he has done another war-related story set in in the 1940s during WWII where three Jewish brothers played by Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell escaped the clutches of Nazi-occupied Poland and ran into Bellarussian forest where they joined Russian resistance fighters and together they build a hiding place, a small village to protect more than 1200 Jews from any danger, based on a true story.
The English, blue-eyed Daniel Craig who played a South African Jew in the movie Munich will once again play another heroic Jew in DEFIANCE, which opens limited December 2008. I’m not an expert, but I think to sound Jewish, you gotta roll your ‘R’ a little more. I don’t think Daniel can do American accent yet… at least not as well as his fellow Englishman actor Jude Law. But each of them has shared on screen attraction to Nicole Kidman in two separate movies Cold Mountain and The Invasion. She is after all… pretty fly for a pasty girl.
