I watched a couple of episodes of Comedy Central series Important Things With Demitri Martin and though I’m not a big fan I can see why the show is popular and Demitri Martin does have a unique style of funny, which has brought him fortune because not only will he star in the upcoming Ang Lee’s movie Taking Woodstock, according to Variety, his next gig allows him to level with Brad Pitt in MONEYBALL, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

The movie is about a baseball general manager, Billy Beane, played by Pitt, who wants to hire players on a slim payroll. That’s where Martin gets into the equation, he’ll play Paul De Podesta, a Harvard grad who uses statistical skills, comes up with a system known as “Earned Run Value” to change baseball scouting tactics thus allowing Beane to get players at low cost.
Based on a book by Michael Lewis, the movie will also involve real life athletes like former Oakland A’s team members David Justice and Scott Hatteberg.
Could this be the next great baseball movie since.. all of Kevin Costner’s baseball movies?
