Vin DieselIf you can, do!
If you can’t do, teach!
If you can’t teach, then teach gym!

In the world of movies, if you’re not good at acting, then try directing… I’m sure this was not what motivated tough action star Vin Diesel to work behind the cameras, but it’d be fun if that was the case, cause then it would be like I gave him Vin Diesel an advice and he took it to heart.

What am I talking about? I’m talking about this…
According to comingsoon.net, Vin Diesel directing a 20-minute prequel to the upcoming fourth movie FAST AND FURIOUS for the Universal Pictures franchise.

This is actually Not Vin Diesel’s directorial debut, he’s done this kinda gig before but probably not in this magnitude. He directed Strays back in 1997 and a short film titled Multi-Facial back in 1999. I have never watched either one of them.

This short prequel film will tie-in some of the events from the second and third movies and it becomes the bridge to introduce the new fourth installment, FAST AND FURIOUS which opens everywhere June 5th, 2009.

The stars that will appear in this Prequel short are Vin Diesel himself along with Michelle Rodriguez reprising her role as Letty and Sung Kang returning as Han. No word yet on what format or how this prequel would premiere; either on a DVD, online, TV or maybe they’ll just literally show up in your living room and act it out in front of your very eyes.

This sorta thing is not a new concept anymore, many movies have done this, they say so that the audiences can understand what will be going on the full movie, but I say the reason are just money and marketing.
Nonetheless, some of these so called prequels are pretty cool. Recently, Hellboy II has an animated prequel that premiered online, the live action version became part of the full movie.
The Dark Knight released the awesome Japanimation Batman: Gotham Knight on DVD 10 days before the Nolan’s Great sequel opened this past July 18th, 2008
