DISCUSS: Is James Bond Too Violent?

Roger Moore

If you were to round up all people who’ve played James Bond, you’ll probably find Roger Moore not as your top favorite, although my old man seems to think he was the Best Bond. The man with the golden gun who lives and lets die, Roger Moore spoke up, via AP, stating that he dislikes the more violent James Bond that’s being presented nowadays.

“I am happy to have done it, but I’m sad that it has turned so violent,”

“That’s keeping up with the times, it’s what cinema-goers seem to want and it’s proved by the box-office figures,”

He’s seen Casino Royale but he has not seen QUANTUM OF SOLACE, which has been released in UK and France and other countries in Europe but it will be released this Friday in the U.S.
So far it has earned $106 million worldwide so far.
Moore has nothing against Daniel Craig as James Bond.

By the way, Roger Moore starred in 7 Bond Movies including the crappy Moonraker.

The article mentioned that back when he was filming the 1985 movie A VIEW TO KILL, director Guy Hamilton wanted Moore to be tougher when handling the Villain.

“That sort of characterization didn’t sit well with me, but Guy was keen to make my Bond a little more ruthless.
“I suggested my Bond would have charmed the information out of her by bedding her first. My Bond was a lover and a giggler, but I went along with Guy,”

A giggling Bond? That doesn’t sit well with me.
I’ve seen QUANTUM OF SOLACE (Read my review of the movie) and I kinda have to agree with Moore’s assumption because the Bond portrayed by Daniel Craig is indeed showing signs of becoming ruthless.

Recently, Daniel Craig said there should be a Black James Bond, and now Roger Moore wants Bond to be less violent…

But would we want our James Bond to be any other way?
