Duncan Jones And Jake Gyllenhaal Go Straight To The SOURCE

Jake Gyllenhaal Duncan Jones

Turns out, Duncan Jones‘ next gig is not MUTE after all. He’s still in the process of writing the screenplay so while we’re waiting for that, the filmmaker who’s been working hard trying to get his Moon star Sam Rockwell receive the Oscar consideration, has found himself another project to keep him busy, SOURCE CODE. According to Variety, Jones will direct with Jake Gyllenhaal as the star… Vendome Pictures and The Mark Gordon Co. are the forces behind this sci-fi thriller and Summit Entertainment is in charge of distribution

But enough about the business side of it, the report says SOURCE CODE is about “a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it.”
But get this, Script Shadow has read the script and the website totally loved it. Their description is that it’s about “Guy with amnesia wakes up on a train. The train may or may not be a target in a terrorist attack.” They say it’s like Deja Vu, Vantage Point, and Run Lola Run but way, way better. You can read the full script review OVER THERE.

Point is, I’m excited for this project because Duncan Jones is the next big thing, a new force in the sci-fi genre.
And I’m glad he got this job because a couple of years ago, SOURCE CODE was actually housed at Universal that bought the screenplay by Ben Ripley’s and the studio had… Topher Grace attached to star with Shane Abbess as the director. Boy did we dodge that Topher bullet or what?!
The current script for SOURCE CODE got a bit of a rewrite by Billy Ray (State of Play).
