There’s a bit of a nervousness at camp IRON MAN 2, ya see…earlier this month it was reported that Emily Blunt was in talks to play BLACK WIDOW a.k.a Natasha Rominoff, the tight leather wearing femme fatale who seduces Tony Stark, confronts his alter ego Iron Man, and then join the Avengers but.. here’s the ‘but’… Blunt is not locked in yet, as a matter of fact, she’s also in talks to be in another movie.
According to Variety, Emily Blunt is negotiating to co-star with Jack Black and Jason Segel in the movie adaptation GULLIVER’S TRAVEL about a traveler (Black) who got washed up on an island Liliput. 20th Century Fox wants Blunt to play a Lilliputian princess and Black’s love interest while Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) will play Horatio, Gulliver’s best friend from Lilliput who helps rescue Gulliver when he’s captured.
So here’s the problem, Emily Blunt still wants to do both projects IRON MAN 2 and GULLIVER’S TRAVEL but both productions happen in the same season.. the movie about Jack Black as the giant surrounded by tiny population will start filming in England in March while Tony Stark’s sequel will start filming in April in Manhattan Beach, California. And last time we checked, the Brit beauty Emily Blunt doesn’t have the power to clone herself into two individuals who can be at two places at the same time.
Blunt’s reps will still try to work something out with both studios to see if Blunt can juggle both projects. But Marvel might have to start looking for another actress to play Black Widow because tick tock, time is of the essence.
I’ve seen this happened in the past where actors would turn down a role for another due to scheduling conflicts and then the movie she/he chose turned out to be a disaster and they live the rest of their lives with regrets and will forever be associated with that one disaster.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.. what will it be for Emily Blunt? This a dilemma but if I were her, it’d be a no brainer.. hands down, IRON MAN 2.. there will always be another comedy movie to do, but something like a chance to be in an Iron Man movie only happens once in a blue moon.
