Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios man talked recently, via Superherohype, about what we can anticipate from the upcoming Marvel’s live action superhero movies. The closest to us this year is IRON MAN 2 but he implied that Nick Fury might have his own movie, either that or he was just saying Nick Fury who’s played significant roles in Marvel movies will also be in THE AVENGERS…
“It’s fun now, and we’re introducing some new characters in ['Iron Man 2'],”
“But it’s not about just cramming in lots of new people; that’s sort of the cardinal sin of the sequel – adding in too many characters. This is totally Tony Stark’s story. And that’s gonna weave into Thor’s story, and Steve Rogers’ story, and it’s already ingrained with Nick Fury’s story and an organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D.”
“My only concern is that when we launch a franchise–whichever character’s franchise that may be–it should stand on its own two feet… So by the time ‘The Avengers’ comes in 2012, it’s not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It’s three people – four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury – who you’ve seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time.”
He said another Hulk movie is possible and yes they’re going to try and stick with the same actors..
“That would be post-’Avengers,’ if it happened… I think there’s a chance. It’s certainly our intention to use the same actors from film to film where we can.”
A lot of concerns out there about incorporating THOR’s mystical fantasy universe with other Marvel superheroes, that one might not be able to compliment or work together with the other.
“No,”
“because we’re doing the Jack Kirby/Stan Lee/Walt Simonson/J. Michael Straczynski ‘Thor.’ We’re not doing the blow-the-dust-off-of-the-old-Norse-book-in-your-library ‘Thor.’ And in the ‘Thor’ of the Marvel Universe, there’s a race called the Asgardians. And we’re linked through this Tree of Life that we’re unaware of. It’s real science, but we don’t know about it yet. The ‘Thor’ movie is about teaching people that.”
As far as which other Marvel characters that he’d like to see on the big screen eventually, names like Doctor Strange and Ant-Man were brought to the table, he also would like to tackle the story of Black Panther and Iron Fist and definitely wants to do a Marvel big space epic ala Star Trek and Star Wars.

The reason Dark Knight and Iron Man worked so well is because they were down to earth and everything is somewhat realistic. Once you go into space ala Star Trek and Star Wars, though exciting it may be, the realism is thrown out the window and too much fantasy comes into play. They may even ruin the characters’ believablity. A good example is Jason in Friday the 13th. First few installments were believable and scary. Once we went to outer space, it almost became cartoonish. I personally felt it was an insult to the character. Space… may be nice for comic books and fantasy stories, but if the superheros want to stay realistic, they flat out need to stay away from it.
