First Look: ANGELS & DEMONS

Angels and Demons

One of my favorite books of all time has fully been turned into a movie and USA TODAY has the first look images (in addition to the shady teaser poster that hit the web). These photos are proof that the movie might, and I repeat, might be better than The Da Vinci Code Movie which I thought was kinda lame in comparison to the novel it was based on. However, ANGELS & DEMONS is considered a prequel, it’s about the character Prof. Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks again but this time he and a hottie compadre, Vittoria, played by Ayalet Zurer will try to stop the plan to destroy the Vatican.

Angels and Demons

The article which you can read HERE basically explains some of the things we already know regarding the hardship that director Ron Howard and his whole crew had to go through during production, problems mostly came from the Vatican, the folks over there were so uptight, they didn’t give Howard permission to shoot scenes in the area and often times, they’d revoke some of the licenses they already gave Howard. What jerkwads!

Angels and Demons

The Da Vinci Code earned about $758 Million Worldwide but even Producer Brian Grazer and everybody involved in the film know that with better review it could’ve gotten more money, so now they’re hoping ANGELS & DEMONS could make up for what the previous installment lacked. The thing is… I remember reading this book a few years ago and boy it was hella fast paced. So much was going on and there were so many cliff hangers that made you wanna lose your sleep because you just wanted to keep reading to see what would happen in the next page. It’d be interesting to see how screenwriter Akiva Goldsman once again adapts author Dan Brown’s creation and makes it not only entertaining but also one that hopefully doesn’t disappoint the fans of the book. If he left out too many important elements, no doubt, bad reviews will be the least of this movie’s concern, audiences might just lose their faith in Ron Howard and Tom Hanks and the gang.

Angels and Demons

The article also mentions that in ANGELS & DEMONS, we won’t see Tom Hanks‘ ridiculous hair style anymore like the one he had in The Da Vinci Code. Well that’s a good thing… his hair was a definitely a distraction. I remember some people complained about the movie not because what they thought of the movie but because they had to sit through 2 hours or so looking at Tom Hanks‘ hair
But Producer Brian Grazer assures everybody that his go-to guy is in the top shape of his form, literally…this is what he said…
“I’m telling you, he’s got a scene where he’s swimming in Speedos, and he looks fantastic,” Grazer says. “He’s going to add 10 years to his career with that scene alone, just watch.”

I’m not sure I wanna see Tom Hanks in a speedos… Swim, Forrest, Swim!

Plot:
“The Da Vinci Code” was Dan Brown’s second novel centering on Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor who’s an expert in religious symbols.
“Angels & Demons,” published in 2000, introduced the Langdon character. In “Angels,” Langdon’s character is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared in the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization – the Illuminati. Desperate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Together they embark on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and the most secretive vault on earth… the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.

ANGELS & DEMONS opens May 15th, 2009
