For Your Consideration: BEST ACTOR Woody Harrelson (Zombieland)

Zombieland

We’re getting close to award season and there are lots of FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ads out there encouraging Oscar voters to side with Pixar’s Up or Where The Wild Things Are or certain actors for certain categories. Well I figured I’d start my own segment but NOT for the obvious. And by that I mean, of course Oscar buzz will be surrounding Daniel Day-Lewis cause he’s Daniel freakin’ Day Lewis! But what about those overlooked performances this year?!
So here’s the first, For your consideration.. Woody Harrelson for Best Actor (Zombieland)…

This could get tricky because some might argue Woody shared the same amount of screen time as Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, making Woody a supporting actor instead of lead but I’d have to disagree because, without exaggerating, just like Forrest Whitaker in The Last King Of Scotland (Some thought James McAvoy was more of the lead), Woody left the same significant impression in Zombieland.
Woody is downright charismatic, not to mention versatile. Those of you who’ve seen this awesome funfest flick (check out my review), would remember how he’d easily turn psychotic angry when he didn’t get his twinkie or how he cried for the first time since ‘Titanic‘. Yes it’s all in great humor but Woody is the kind of actor whose range is so wide, he can turn from one emotion to another in a heartbeat, adapt to any situation in an instant, his skills are effortless.
So if Robert Downey Jr. could get a nomination last year for a comedy (Tropic Thunder), I think Woody deserves an award worthy recognition for this hilarious horror/comedy. For Your Consideration!

Hahahah, he really did give a great performance. So much fun to watch. He’s number seven in my top ten lead actors so far.

Let’s see if Oscar voters would think the same
