FORBIDDEN Cameron?

forbidden planet

Earlier this month, scribe J. Michael Straczynski talked a tiny bit of info about his take on the new re-imagining of the 1956 sci fi classic THE FORBIDDEN PLANET. What I didn’t know is that for the past decade, Titanic man, James Cameron had been wanting to direct this project, it just never came to be.
But now that producer Joel Silver and Warners are making sure this is going to happen, according to IESB, James Cameron is eyeing and interested again in helming it.

After long years of feature film Hiatus since Titanic, now he has the upcoming AVATAR and he wants to direct projects such as BATTLE ANGEL, THE DIVE, and now this?! He thinks he can just leave us for a long time and come back into our lives just like that, who the hell does he think he is?!
I kid.. I kid.. I’m being too dramatic. I think it’s cool that he wants to do this gig and seeing that AVATAR will be in 3-D, I wouldn’t be surprised if THE FORBIDDEN PLANET gets the same treatment,.. that is IF he get the job.

The original 1956 movie is about ”An expedition is sent from Earth to Altair in the constellation of Aquilae (some 17 light years from Earth) to discover what happened to a colony of settlers on its fourth planet, Altair-4. What they discover is how and why an alien race of geniuses destroyed itself overnight while leaving their technology intact at some point in the distant, distant past.”
