This evening seems to be about projects in development finally gaining momentum and hiring writers. This past summer we learned that Dreamworks is developing the remake of a classic horror film FRIGHT NIGHT with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films are producing along with Michael De Luca. The 1985 original movie was written and directed by Tom Holland, about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires. The new version of FRIGHT NIGHT will keep its horror/comedy tone but today’s technology will make the FX look scarier than before

According to Hollywood Reporter, the writer/producer of TV’s Mad Men, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, Marti Noxon has been hired to write the screenplay for FRIGHT NIGHT remake.
Obviously, she’s very familiar with the world of vampires. It still doesn’t say how much of the original storyline will be changed but now a writer is hired, we’ll be hearing about director and cast soon enough.

“For young Charlie Brewster, nothing could be better than an old horror movie late at night. Two men move in next door, and for Charlie with his horror movie experience, there can be no doubt that their strange behavior is explained by the fact that they are a vampire and his undead day guardian. The only one who can help him hunt them down is a washed-up actor, Peter Vincent, who hosts Charlie’s favorite TV show, Fright Night. Vincent doesn’t really believe that vampires exist, but does it for the money”

I liked the old school Fright Night and Fright Night 2. I think I will watch see it just out of curiousity just like the Hellraiser Remake.
