pride and glory

There have been many questions that popped out this year in the world of cinema.
Will The Dark Knight beat Titanic? Why do actors keep dying left and right? Have people lost respect for Tom Cruise? and more and more question as the months go by.

By one was flying under the radar. When and will the movie PRIDE AND GLORY ever get released into theaters??
It was suppose to open back in March but it had to be scrapped by New Line which got absorbed by WB, causing concern that the movie may never see the light of day.

Just check out the trailer for this cop thriller/drama.. you’d see that it’s got a story worth checking out.
The story is about a gritty and emotional portrait of the New York City Police Department, the film follows a multi-generational police family whose moral code is tested when one of two sons on the force investigates an incendiary case involving his older brother and brother-in-law. The case forces the family to choose between their loyalties to one another and their loyalties to the department.
Any movie with Edward Norton deserves a fighting chance.

And so, according to Variety, Warners has set October 24th, 2008 as the release date for PRIDE AND GLORY and it will open on 2,200 screens. Not bad!

Things are looking up even more for the movie’s writer/director Gavin O’Connor whose next script WARRIOR has been bought by Lionsgate.
The story is about a mixed-martial-arts saga about two estranged brothers on a collision course to fight in a tournament for the heavyweight championship.
Let’s hope they don’t cast Jean Claude Van Damme to star in this one.

The word is that the WARRIOR project is going to be a trilogy. Did somebody say ‘Franchise’?
Oh, well, I must’ve been hearing voices then.
