If I could get a penny for every time somebody saying that The Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Tim Burton, I’d be stinkin’ rich by now. It was directed by Henry Selick, people… the guy who was also behind Coraline, Laika’s success story. Which is what makes the following info quite the surprise.
According to Variety, Selick has left Laika, the animation studio that Selick helped establish.
In the previous info, Laika decided to dump their CG animation department and just focus solely on stop motion. The plan was to keep Selick and have him serve as Laika’s supervising director and continue to make films for the studio
Well you can kiss that plan goodbye. Word has it Selick was frustrated without a new project to occupy him and Laika got no project for him to do. Laika is expected to announce its next project within a month. So I don’t blame him, a man is nothing without his work. We’ll wait and see what stop motion goodness Selick will have for us and which studio he’ll be working with to make that happen.

Strange. I’m a big fan of Henry Selick (thank you for putting the Nightmare = NOT Burton thing there, Rama) and I’m suprised he left his child. He had the (untitled) Halloween-project on his list, he was going to direct it. It was the (stop motion) story about how Halloween came to life. It’s a shame.
I hope ‘Here Be Monsters’, ‘Paranorman’, ‘Jack & Ben’ and ‘The Wall and the Wing’ (all Laika-projects) are still in.
no problem, my friend
so please tell me more about these titles HERE BE MONSTERS,.. PARANORMAN,.. and JACK & BEN..
