What on earth is the great Oscar winning composer Howard Shore doing, playing with the Twilight Saga? This man brought us the wonderful middle earth music for Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, plus Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and The Departed, but now he’s going to try to tackle teen angst. According to Movie Score Magazine, Shore is going to write the music for the third installment of the Edward-Bella-Jacob story. You can hear Shore’s music also when Martin Campbell’s thriller Edge of Darkness, starring Mel Gibson, opens this weekend…
Shore’s music would probably the only highlight in ECLIPSE. Carter Burwell scored the first Twilight movie and Alexandre Desplat scored the second installment, New Moon.
Shore has begun work on ECLIPSE this week.
In “Eclipse,” Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.
ECLIPSE opens June 30th, 2010
Here are some of Shore’s work..
I can see myself saying “Damn the movie sucked just like the other 2 but I loved the score.”
Rama I loveeeeeeeeeeee Howard Shore! I didn’t even realize that he scored The Departed. The music perfectly complements the amazing acting. That’s what sets Howard Shore apart from a lot of composers. He’s able to make music that enhances rather than drowning or carrying the movie. But, I agree with Frankie. Music can only do so much for a movie, when the acting is mediocre at best.
I agree, Nina..
Shore is a brilliant composer and yes, he’s worked with Scorsese a few times.. that makes him even more awesome.
my favorite would probably have to be of course John Williams and then Hans Zimmer.. Zimmer is da man!
I agree Hanz Zimeer is the man. I love movie scores. Its really bad that when I watch a movie I can tell who compsed the score when the movie starts cause these composers have such a unique style. Like Elliot Goldenthal, Hanz Zimmer, John Williams, Howard Shore, and Danny Elfman.
Like the other day I was watching Demoltion Man and listening to score the I was saying to myself yeah that is diferently Elliot cause the score sounds just like Batman Forvever.
But this Steve Jablosky guy has some sweets tracks also. The transformers score is great along with the gears of war 2 soundtrack.
But i’m so curious how Howard Shore is going to do the score to Eclipse. Don’t the orchestra has to watch the movie so they know when to edit what song fits a certain scene? I know Howard’s orchestra is gonna hate him for having to watch eclispe…accapella. LOL.
