Hello! Rama here blogging from San Diego Comic-Con Int’l ’08. So far so good. I got to see interesting people wearing interesting costumes. Today I was dressed up as Indiana Jones and people stopped me from walking just to take pictures of me. I gotta tell ya, the attention feels good.
I was at the panel of MAX PAYNE. Cutie Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg were there and they answered fans’ questions. They were talkin’ and there were four big screens and Damn, Mark’s biceps are hella huge. I need to hire his personal trainer to transform me into a freak of nature. They showed the footage, or more like a compilation of brief clips from the movie adaptation MAX PAYNE, and I think it’s going to school Hitman on how to turn video game into live action feature film.
After that, the program was supposed to continue on to TWILIGHT Panel. Keep in mind that Erik Davis of Cinematical has mentioned that the movie wasn’t supposed to have a major presence here at Con and he’s right, it’s true!
But Comic-Con this year gave everybody a surprise. Hugh freakin’ Jackman showed up! He appeared as a filler. And everybody screamed in excitement. It was as if Elvis had entered the building. I was just glad my eardrums didn’t get wacked from the noise.
Hugh Jackman said that they just wrapped the movie X-MEN ORIGIN: WOLVERINE and he literally just arrived. He flew in from the land down under just for the fans. He promised everybody in the audience that the movie will be… are you ready?
BIG, ACTION-PACKED… and BADASS!!
Those were his exact words.
He noticed legendary Comic book writer Len Wein in the audience, Len’s the one who created the character Wolverine and so Hugh ran down from the stage to take the honor of shaking Len Wein’s hands for the first time ever.
That was very cool of him, recognizing the genius behind the character who has made his career. Respect!
Hugh Jackman showed everybody in Hall H, a never before seen trailer for X-MEN ORIGIN: WOLVERINE and the crowds roared when the sight of GAMBIT (played by Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch) appeared in the trailer.
I’ve mentioned before that GAMBIT is my favorite X-Men character and frankly, judging from what I saw, I think this movie’s gonna do him justice. Overall, it was just a very sharp, stylish trailer. I was impressed, seriously.
They didn’t let people record any footage/clip shown at the panel, of course, because it’s straight up piracy but I won’t be surprised if some ignorant fool leaks it online sometime.
Ok, I gotta get going to the next panel and hopefully take some cool pictures of the stars too. Stay tuned and Rock on!
