Is Pitt Cool Enough To Play McQueen?

Right now, there are 2 biopic movies about the late great Steve McQueen that are being developed. One is based on his ex wife’s memoir MY HUSBAND My FRIEND and the other is by producers Carenzie and Peters, based on the book STEVE McQUEEN: PORTRAIT OF AN AMERICAN REBEL.
Immediately, the first actor that comes to mind when you look at McQueen’s image above is.. Daniel Craig
word has it that the memoir project is looking into casting the blond Bond but… producers Carenzie and Peters want a certain different heartthrob to play The King Of Cool and that person happens to be Brad Pitt.

According to The Examiner, Pitt is in talks to star in the biopic which will begin filming later this year. The casting decision was made on the fact that the producers think “Pitt resembles McQueen and shares the late actor’s love of beautiful women, fast cars, and motorcycles.”
Brad Pitt is not that great of an actor, some may argue if he actually deserved his previous Oscar nomination for Benjamin Button, let’s face it, the visual effects did more work than he did. But he most certainly is cool enough and after his Aldo Raine performance in Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, Pitt will most likely be considered badass enough to play the legend a.k.a Bandito, a.k.a McQ a.k.a Vin, a member of the original Magnificent Seven.
Or do you think Pitt is too much of a pretty boy? That particular persona of his could sometimes backfire.
I think Daniel Craig would still be a much more fitting candidate though. And if you have any doubts about him doing an American accent, then you should try watching him in Road to Perdition.

Daniel Craig is perfect for the role. He looks like McQueen, he’s rough like McQueen, and can obviously play the action star like McQueen.

Brad Pitt will probably do ok with the role, but I really don’t know where they get that he looks like McQueen. No where near. Pitt is actually the better looking guy. Pitt can probably be good in a biopic about Robert Redford or Paul Newman…. not McQueen. He looks more like those two than McQueen.

Whoa…. just though of an idea!!! Cast Pitt and Craig for the roles Newman and McQueen played in…. wait for it…. wait for it….. THE TOWERING INFERNO. haha

Anyhoo…. Pitt will do fine… but Craig is the better cast to play McQueen.

dude… THE TOWERING INFERNO the remake.. that’d be awesome! Now that’s a remake I’d like to see

I agree with Pitt and Redford.. in the movie SPY GAMES, I thought it was like watching 2 Redfords.. the old and the young.

I say combine Die Hard and The Towering Inferno. haha Get it?

The first half of the movie, John McClane stops the terrorists at the Nakatomi building but tears it up in the process causing a huge, uncontrollable fire that traps all the hostages in the upper floors. Enter Pitt and Craig as the architect and Fire Chief. Second half of the movie we see the remake of the Towering Inferno. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I’m too funny. ;)

And Jason Statham could play the new McLane.. saweet!

  5. Moviebuff123 says:

Not sure about Statham…. he freaking plays invincible characters all the time. McClane is one of us. He’s tough, but scared. He’s good, but makes mistakes. He’s an every day guy placed in bad situations.

I like Statham but he always plays his characters too bad ass like he can’t be beat even if he’s facing 25 guys all by himself. Twenty five guys against one and he still kicks their ass? C’mon.

We need a little younger action star. Maybe Sam Worthington, Chris Pine, or Channing Tatum?

  6. Rama says:

Sam Worthington and Channing Tatum don’t quite have the smartass wisecrackin’ attitude and sense of humor ala John McLane
So after having watched STAR TREK,.. my vote goes to Chris Pine..
    Good call

  7. [...] finally Rama wonders if Brad Pitt is cool enough to play Steve McQueen in an upcoming biopic on the manliest of manly actors from the 60’s and [...]
