Yesterday, an info hit the web via iFMagazine, producer Jon Turtletaub, better known as the guy who directed the National Treasure movies, revealed that there’s going to be a JERICHO Movie based on the short-lived series starring Skeet Ulrich a.k.a the man who looks like he could play Johnny Depp if there’s a biopic movie about Johnny Depp.

“We’re developing a feature for JERICHO,” says Turteltaub. “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho.”

JERICHO was on CBS for only 2 seasons and then it got cancelled due to low ratings. It’s about a character named Jack (Ulrich) who returns to his hometown, his father who’s a mayor, and the people he grew up with. But their lives are suddenly changed in a blink of an eye when a Nuclear attack happens and they are forced to defend themselves against dangers, pressing needs and each other.
I watched a couple of episodes back when it was still on and I gotta tell ya, it wasn’t very appealing, it just didn’t have great cliffhangers that would make me wanna stay tuned the following week to see what would happen next. There was too much confusing mindless drama when all I wanted to see was the escalating tension and suspicion between rival groups, the struggle for survival against the threat from those who wish to do harm and the obsession for power in an uncertain environment. I guess I was expecting something along the line of the series Lost. Either that or for some reason, anytime I hear a nuclear attack, I immediately think killer Terminators and John Connor will walk the earth soon afterward.
A big screen version of JERICHO would probably be a better idea. They could just focus on making it a fast-paced post-apocalyptic thriller and nothing else.
By the way, all the cast of the series will be hired for this project.. and yes, that includes the Johnny Depp look-alike.
