The world of SHERLOCK HOLMES is not as easy as elementary, my dear Watson. Speaking of the bloody hell detective’s sidekick. Who on earth is going to play him? And why is that question so damn important, I have no idea. I bet it wouldn’t have mattered if the rumor hadn’t surrounded big names but big names are what the project is after.
Let’s do a recap shall we,.. first it was said that Russell Crowe might play Watson, but then scratch that because soon after that, director Guy Ritchie denied the whole thing but bam! Latinoreview got scoop that Crowe might play the villain Moriarty instead… and all of a sudden came an info from Joblo saying that the role Watson might land on the Irish badboy, Colin Farrell.
All these talks were going on while the casting of actor Mark Strong in the movie, without knowing what he’ll play, came and gone like the wind.
This shenanigan might come to an end because according to Entertainment Weekly, Jude Law is in negotiations to Dr. Watson
and guess what, the report claims that Mark Strong might be set to play the villain. Didn’t see that comin’, did ya? Neither did I.
Is it really that hard to find someone, anyone to accompany Robert Downey Jr. as SHERLOCK HOLMES?! He’s not doing blow anymore guys, there’s nothing to fear!
This version is supposed to bring us Sherlock Holmes like never before, it would rely more on his skills at boxing and swordfighting. This move of having a big name to play a sidekick makes me wonder,.. maybe it’s because the role/the character Watson is going to be revamped too, he might be more than meets the eye, maybe he could even be the traitor in the end… that would make sense if you’re going to have somebody famous to play him, somebody who would have slightly more screen time than a normal supporting actor would have.
UPDATE: Variety reported that Jude Law IS indeed going to be Watson in the movie SHERLOCK HOLMES and Mark Strong is playing the villain, Blackwood… No Moriarity in sight.
