According to Hollywood Reporter, The original draft which was bought by the studio, was written by Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger, Will Arnett will star as a man who decides to go to space after he suspects that his longtime girlfriend, an astronaut, is cheating on him with another spacewalker.
Ha! I’m sorry, I had to laugh there for a second. This might just be the silliest and the funniest idea I’ve heard in a while. What’s next? A guy goes under the sea because he heard his girlfriend, working in a submarine, is cheating on him with another sailor? That said, I gotta give Lisbe and Reger props for taking romantic comedy to a whole new level, literally.
As far as Arnett goes, I can’t think of a better man for the job, it’s not fair that Jason Bateman and Michael Cera are the only Arrested Development veterans who get to enjoy big screen success while Arnett keeps making 30 Rock guest appearances. But I think Arnett would be better playing the role of the astronaut that the girlfriend is having an affair with than playing the poor dude going to space trying to save his relationship.
