This is the info that’s going to make some of you go ‘Aww..’. HollywoodReporter says WB is developing a movie version based on the true story about Marine Maj. Brian Dennis and his dog but this ain’t Marley & Me. While Dennis was on duty in Iraq, he encountered a stray dog, now named NUBS, its ears appeared to have been partly cut off, it was weak and it was dying. Dennis took NUBS to safety, nursed it back to health, shipped NUBS to the U.S. and they were reunited after his tour of duty ended…
Some of you may have seen Dennis and NUBS talking about their story on The Today Show and The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. The book is titled NUBS: A MARINE, A MUTT, AND A MIRACLE. WB has bought the screen rights and has hired scribe Justin Zackham (The Bucket List) to pen the screenplay. Zackham will also help produce the project.
The report says that the movie will feature the terrain of the Iraq War as a backdrop, but the movie probably won’t contain any combat scene. So if you’re looking to see a war movie, go watch We Were Soldiers because NUBS is just a dramedy relationship between a man and his best friend.
