Has any of you ever seen the 2009 French Canadian film FATHERS AND GUNS a.k.a De père en flic? The comedy was a hit in Quebec, kicking Bruno where the sun don’t shine on its opening weekend. Thank God,.. Bruno was not a funny movie anyway, it was more like a wake up call for Sacha Baron Cohen to come up with something different next time. Some foreign language films out there are just so much better than what Hollywood can offer these days. But of course, instead of releasing it here in the U.S. the way it’s intended to be watched and enjoyed, Hollywood just has to go and do a remake…
According to Hollywood Reporter, producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall (the 2 forces behind Indiana Jones franchise) are going to remake FATHERS AND GUNS for Sony Pictures.
But the people behind the original movie, producer Denise Robert and writer/director Emile Gaudreault will also be involved only as producers of this remake.
The original FATHERS AND GUNS is currently the highest-grossing French-language film ever released in Quebec and Canada. The story is about “two cops, father and son, who can’t stand each other. They are assigned to an investigation to infiltrate an outdoor adventure group-therapy camp for fathers and sons.”
The remake doesn’t have director or writer attached yet but hell, it sounds like I gotta rent and watch this FATHERS AND GUNS tonight.
