Back in July, there was an awesome rumor that there’s going to be a New Live action feature of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.
One of the cowabunga dudes who created the characters, Kevin Eastman, talked via HeavyMetal.com, basically saying yes! Imagi and Warner Bros. are indeed in talks to develop the new project this is what he posted on the forum..
Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better “re-invention” (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT’s, in a live action film–like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc…there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original “first” TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right–but no official word yet…will keep you posted. Best, Kevin
Once again, another movie that’s going to use Nolan’s Batman Universe as inspiration.
I’m cool with it as long as they do it right this time, the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III was cheesy, the whole time travel thing to Ancient Japan was lame. I’m gonna pretend that one never happened.
I just hope they don’t make this new version too gloomy and dark, because those four awesome turtles are supposed to be vibrant and funny and full energy.
I enjoyed TMNT, but it was more directed to children audiences.
I’m glad the plan is to take it back to how they came to be, especially The Shredder.
What do you think about this info?
Should we get some pizza and celebrate?!
