This past Friday, the best panel of the event is arguable the same best even last year and the best one there’ll be in the years to come… it was Kevin F*in’ Smith’s panel.. Yup, it wouldn’t do the man justice if we talked about him and not cuss up a storm like he does on a daily basis.
He was promoting his new movie ZACK AND MIRI MAKE PORNO and he brought the whole cast with him, Jusin Long, Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Jason Mewes.. oh and uh… real life porn stars Katie Morgan and Traci Lords.
The first one was a total blond airhead. She said Kevin Smith was the most amazing director she’s ever worked with… the funny thing is she hasn’t worked with many credible ones that are not porno-related.
I was hoping for somebody to purposely heckle Kevin Smith and do a repeat of what happened last year.
It’s not that I wanted to see him pissed off, it’s just that the director of Clerks and Dogma has a great talent for making smart comebacks. He’d come up with the most awesome remarks to bitchslap the heckler back. Man, it’d be a treat to have been able to see that happen in person.
But still, the man was hilarious and freakin’ articulate too. He answered some of the questions from the audiences informatively and entertaining.
Before he showed them a clip, he ran a series of hilarious sayings on the screen, telling people to shut their cameras off unless if you were Martin Scorsese.
The point is, after watching panels like Twilight and The Spirit, it’s good to know that there’s still people like Kevin Smith who always knows how to run a totally awesome panel for awesome people like you and me.
The highlight… two people from the audience went up to the microphone to ask question and they looked exactly like Jay and Silent Bob. But unlike Kevin Smith’s characters…. the Jay was more insightful than the Silent Bob.
